First market correction?

likefunny

How is it even possible that the market going down after going up the prior year is a surprise to you?

like

Now you know it is possible. And, it is stil not too bad. Imagine when people see their portfolio cut in 40 or 50%

Why are you investing without knowing the first rule of thumb, always zoom out, and stop looking at your portfolio so often. If you are investing for the long run then invest it and forget it. You are analyzing your investment off the basis of an anomaly year. 20-30 years from now, if you are patient, your returns should normalize to 8-12%. Your 1 year annual gain of 23% is not normal nor is it sustainable

It's a sale 🤷🏻‍♂️. In 5-10 years you'll have way more anyways. Hold it.

Not a sale, but no longer gouging us — which is nice

We are buying more

If you are invested in indexes, don’t worry as they always come back. If you have meme tech stocks, some of them might never recover

So are you guys still holding or selling to cut the lose ?

Unless you need the money, never sell in a correction. If anything, buy more.

Seeing many of the salaries posted in this bowl, I am extremely eagered to transition from the federal government. Any ideas and/or tips? I started as a student intern and I have transitioned into a specialist roal. This position requires me to be a jack of all trades and the pay maxes out at 87k. The federal government uses an old metric pay system called the GS scale that requires us to be within grade at minimum 52 weeks. I'm tired of waiting to get what I was promised/owed.
