So, question: How am I supposed to teach in a Trauma-Informed classroom when I'm mandated to base my lessons on something I know has traumatized my students? (Spoilers: It's Covid-19)

You’re not supposed to ask the smart questions ;)

I’m just kidding obviously. It’s honestly a very tight spot that we are in where no one wins, especially not the students!

NEW YORK, NEW YORK!!!.... you got to be kidding me... my family and friends are in Detroit... THE REST OF THE NATION NEEDS TO WAKE UP!!!

What are you being asked to teach about Covid-19? Trying to wrap my head around it...

Example, I don't teach 6th grade, but the teacher who does is doing a Fantasy unit. They will have to assign students to write a fantasy story....based on Covid.

Partners, please looking for some advice. I work for a boutique firm and worked really hard the past year with a lot more responsibilities and an under staffed team (hiring freeze because of covid). My bonus number was good, but not great (I didn’t get my max bonus). The reason from my boss was that while my performance was well recognized, because of covid there was a broad bonus haircut. However, my direct reports did not get any bonus. It has really tainted my view on the firm because...cont.

Did anyone else adopt the new Florida Wonders curriculum? We just adopted it this school year, and I teach 4th grade. My team and I have not found a good flow, schedule, or whatever you want to call it. We feel like it teaches too many skills in one lesson, and we are not able to truly teach anything “deep” enough for students to master. Does anyone have any insight? What do you do? Do you like the curriculum? Why or why not? Would you be willing to share what you do weekly/daily? Thanks!

What’s up everyone!! How have y’all’s agencies been doing in COVID? Do you find your businesses have changed product mixes in the last year?

Can someone explain how it possibly makes sense to buy, purely from a financial perspective, in sf right now? I want to, but a 2b mortgage seems like it’s ~$5k in the areas I’m interested in whereas rent for a comparable unit is $2.9-3.5k/month. Have never lived here before so not sure if this is normal or not? Is the covid rental discount that extreme and prices are usually closer to the monthly mortgage amount?

My previous manager would track us by hours daily, made a fuss everytime anything stretched and guilt us for that and the unplanned leave too unless it was COVID. Hinted him a lot of time, this is problematic but apparently he considered it "standard practice for agile".

Now 8/10 teammates have switched within < 1 year of project start (6-7 months with him) which tbh had good work in our opinion and even team was fun to work with even though none of us ever met in person.

SOS I’m a first year teacher. I’m at a VERY challenging school district & a different culture than I’ve ever been around before. I cant get through a full day’s lesson! I spend more time disciplining!

Hoping for some advice on how to properly leverage another job offer to help make another company pull the trigger on you. I have a good feeling they will extend an offer but it’s not a slam dunk. I think I’m top 2. Company B has extended an offer but one that I’m not really considering (moving to a new city/not enough money). Do I mention this....

Has anyone moved out of CA and teaches in a new state now? Where did you go and how complicated was it? I have a lot of years in and don’t want to have to get a bunch of new certifications. My husband is freaking out over this new vaccine mandate for kids.

Honestly, is this year ever going to end? These evals are killing me! 😣
