Hi! Has anyone been asked for their references before the first interview? This happened to me while interviewing with a large International Construction Company. I was quite shocked by this as I feel it is inappropriate to give out others confidential info to people before you have even met. Also ones references are only going to take 1 or 2 calls as people are busy and if they used up on a first interview and that doesn’t work out then you are left in a bad position!! Thoughts?

Email pleasantries.. are you for or against?

Sometimes I find the “hope you are well” or “hope you had a good weekend” at the beginning of each email feels fake / forced. I’d prefer to get straight to the point of my email but don’t want to come across as rude if I don’t include that in my emails. Thoughts?
