Could help get rid of some dead weight but the government still lacks anyway to replace anyone fired with actual talent
The bloat at DHS that was more or less orchestrated by Deloitte when they created the agency?
I’m always fascinated by how much harm and malice is expressed to Fed employees. I genuinely feel bad, and I work with some frustrating ones. This really isn’t going to make it better for anyone
Tightening rules making it easier to fire someone may help some fringe cases. But I don’t think it will actually make things better. To do that you have to make these offices more enticing work environments - bring in the talent that will improve these spaces.
D2 there is no harm or malice here, I have encountered a lot of talented passionate people so far. However, I have also encountered some of the most entitled, lazy people on this earth. I am a fan of anything that makes it easier to replace those guys with somebody who has a degree of work ethic.
If he gets rid of just a fraction of the bloat in DHS I would be so happy
Yes. Every little bit will help
This is not a bill designed to improve the working conditions of the Federal employees, you are correct. This is a bill designed to reduce the ease with which entitled freeloaders may take advantage of the American taxpayer.
@op A series of EOs focused on nothing but making it easier to fire people comes off as a very threatening set of policies towards existing feds. That’s what I mean by malicious intent.
What, if anything, in these EOs is actually going to improve the working conditions of these feds? It’s focused on the stick- which should be easier to use in some cases - but I still don’t see how this will address the root challenge of making federal workspaces vibrant places that attract the best talent out there. It’s there in spots but it’s more often than not the exception and not the rule.
There are some people who think making it easier to fire people and getting rid of unions will make these workspaces better. It helps, in some parts of the workforce, but I don’t see it helping the larger picture.
From the swamp, not as in self harm.. ugh
What executive orders are we taking about ?
These
30 days is insufficient for a PIP.
If anything, these EOs may have the opposite affect. I see more nepotism on the horizon.
I echo what has been said above. There are some egregious examples of fraud in the form of freeloading and nepotism that could be dealt with more easily, but who’s going to be the reaper? Someone form the executive branch cutting GS 9-14s? Highly doubtful. It will be a career fed, vested in weathering the current storm until a new administration comes in. Further, who will come into the federal space when the pay is subpar and performance (despite what an executive order might say) is not and will not be rewarded?
