Sounds like McCann has something to hide
I think it proves how powerful Facebook is. They said no for this one but will they say yes for another cause? Should they have this power?
DMA posted that people have asked FB to shut them down and that FB has reached out to them and said they won’t be shut down.
DO NOT start throwing names around in the midst of this unless you've personally experienced or know for a FACT about the harassment, predatory behavior and abuses of power that this movement is about. It will weaken the entire movement and in the end can hurt the validity of true accusations. It can also ruin lives if you're not careful.
not sure how DMA would find out about that. I don’t think they’re lying but like, wouldn’t FB provide anonymity, regardless of how large or small the accuser is (in this case it was McCann?)
So either Facebook told DMA that McCann asked for the shutdown, which is shady on both sides, or someone from McCann told DMA, which is hopefully what happened.
How would they even find that out?
Not surprising
Pathetic if true. Mccann won’t just go quietly.
Shitty and guilty
CD3 that’s not how it’s been going. If a man who was just hired by a firm is targeted, they come after him by letting the firm know they hired a serial harasser. They even get to his clients. The first one they toppled was brought down in this manner. Their aim is to drum them out of the whole field
@CD3 because you’re not thinking like a person who is at risk. I understand the idealism in your argument, but when someone is a known predator they are a risk. Maybe he hasn’t done it at this shop, but that statement is ALWAYS appended with “yet.”
When will he go back to his old ways? How did anyone feel he was appropriate to hire for leadership knowing his past actions? How do you as an employee feel about the other leadership who made the decision to hire this person?
It’s a lot bigger than: “Well, he hasn’t done anything wrong at this firm, so everything is fine."
CD3: how do you think offenders have been able to jump from shop to shop for decades? They “part ways” with a current gig and don’t disclose at the new one. HR doesn’t share the settlements, it never gets out.
How do you propose making disclosure of past offenses “fair”.?
So it doesn’t matter what you did at your current gig. If you are know as a sexual harasser, you are branded as beyond reproach, and nobody should hire you ever again. There are no rules in this. That’s why it’s working
I disagree. When misconduct happened while the person worked at a certain agency then the agency should investigate and find the facts. If nothing has happened while at the new place what will they investigate? They would basically punish someone based on past allegations. I don't think it's fair whether it has happened before or not.
@CD2 I know for a fact
@CD3 wonder what you think of Mueller investigating Trump prior to his presidency. With any kind of luck Trump will fall because of things he did prior to his current gig.
ECD 1 I'm behind that! But that's (supposedly) a proper investigation.
