Lol, I meant try putting in less hours, maybe get a 2 or a 3 for the sake the saving your marriage. In the grand scheme of things we call life, I'd say your marriage is more important than a rating system developed by bunch of people you don't know.
Maybe start putting in less hours? And see if your rating is any different and go from there
That's where the problem is: no matter how much you put in, is not enough. So... i learned to start at the other extreme: how little can I put in and still keep my kob?!
Oh well... let's say I've enjoyed quite a few weekends with my family during busy season.
This job sucks
My rating is just fine (sorry I'm a PwC tier 1) just keep wondering this year if doing this is still worth it. It's gonna be my marriage or the job pretty soon and it's not a choice I want to make.
The money isn’t much different between tiers. A couple grand after tax isn’t worth a 13 hour Saturday. Eff that noise.
That’s the spirit, Tax Senior. I have one large public F500 and some smaller clients, and this past busy season I worked one Sunday and my kids still know who I am. Maybe it’s not that Manager is easier, but you have to give less of a crap about the “oh I worked so many hours” circle jerk. It’s all about productivity
Hey if OP wants to call his 8 hour Saturday a 13 hour Saturday I support him
That was me being naive my first year
What constitutes “not enough”? Is your engagement behind? If shit is getting done and your team isn’t behind then don’t work a 13 hr Saturday
“Work smart not hard"
Auditing is your passion?
I feel this way every single Saturday! Then Sunday comes and your back at it...
Oh I know that but the money is a plus too. Just like anything else it's finding balance.
Yeah, it’s pretty depressing to waste over a fourth of your year, working until May Friday, Saturday, Sunday to be rated a 3
It’s better once you get to Manager. Can’t imagine being married as a Senior or a Staff. It’s bad enough on a marriage at my level, and I have a ton of flexibility
Lol. Just lol. My good friend got hit with the ultimatum by his wife and left the firm against his will. His marriage is great.
My wife asked if it's worth it. I told her that this is my passion and if she loved me she would support my passion. I got 3 kids and work today and I go in tomorrow on our only day off.
Point is, solve the underlying problems in the marriage. Put those issues in the light and don't let the job become a reason. Jmho. Gl man, I know how stressful this shit is.
Wait, EY1, so your wife left you?
Never got a Tier 1. Worked 90 all of last season and still got the 2.
What time did you get in 6am?
