Anyone who has started her own law firm? Any tips/advice? Any comment is very much appreciated
Found out I'm on the VP track at work but they want me to come up with "new product offerings" and longterm business opportunities. I work at a political firm that already does social, web, branding, ads, and video. I'm kind of at a loss for what Design can still offer. We are limited by where we can even talk about our candidates. Any out of the box ideas would be appreciated.
Hello partners, advice question. I have informally met some top executives (Chief officers) and I want to sell to them some of the works I’m doing. How should I approach to them? I’m just a SC btw
Would love some feedback on skills to add to my tool belt for eventually transitioning to product management!

Any technical skills I should focus on? Also considering pursuing a top MBA program
Thoughts on putting half or even more of retirement fund into AOR etf? 60 year old with $500k total. Planned retirement 5-10 years. It seems to do all the work for you, diversifying 60/40 equity/FI. Thoughts?

Should i be scared of buying a house right now? My friend sent me this video, but I’m always skeptical of YouTubers who might simplify for views, so figured I’d get some fish wisdom
What kind of behavior systems do you use in your classroom? I teach 1st grade. I’m tired of using the folder/calendar system with 🙂/🙁 and a prize box. Any ideas?

I'm currently a civil design engineer, and trying to switch to real estate as a Program Manager. I have an interview in a week where they tell me I will have to work on ( for about 3-4 hours ) on an operational case study.
The job is located in Paris and the job is in French .
Does anyone here have any case studies in Real estate that they can share ? and if they're from France, that would be even better.
Thank you in advance !

Explain to me like I’m 5. Why does the monthly billable hours goal on things like Intellistat change month to month. I’m not hitting hours this year. Last month goal was 158. This months goal is 180.
I was at an event where one attorney told 1Ls “If you want biglaw, you will eventually get it,”even if you strike out in school.” I was just taken aback since some of these students weren’t from schools that normally place into biglaw (e.g., T4). She went to my school, and I agree with her that, if you want biglaw with a JD from my school, you will probably eventually get it. I know lateraling in later on is an avenue a lot of people take, but is it really easy for everyone to eventually get?
What’s the best brunch spot in NYC I can take my wife and 2 rugrat kids to on Mother’s Day this Sunday? Not the Bagatelle type, if that’s still around (I miss those days…)
Anyone know how Jackson Lewis's lockstep works? Straight calendar year? Joined a little over a month ago as a lateral and curious if I get a raise starting January 1, but feels weird to ask about this early.
Tips for dealing with toxic senior associates? I’m a 3rd year, and one of my seniors is incredibly difficult to work with, for instance calling me out in front of partners, telling me to compile final docs when they are incomplete, blaming me when a client gets mad, etc. I try to let most of it roll off my back (because I know partners aren’t reading her emails and I’d rather sleep ten more minutes than get into a stupid fight about how she didn’t send me a sig block) but idk it’s bugging me
Has anyone ever been ghosted (i.e., no response from hr to follow-up emails) during conflicts check?
Have a coworker who volunteers for work but never ends up doing it. At what point does it make sense to go to the partner to address this? We’re both midlevels, and I’m tired of having to put in even more time every weekend to pick up his slack. If this were a junior, I’d address it with them first, but this is unacceptable from a fifth/sixth year.
First year trainee here. Having the standard wobbles but generally surviving.
My question is - how can I tell if I'm doing well? More specifically, what common and avoidable mistakes (specific or general) do trainees make, and what attitude or actions impress you?
Recently overheard some associates complaining about another trainee and now I have the fear... I want to get this right. Thanks in advance.
Does anyone else plan on working in big law for 5 or 6 years and then leaving the legal profession altogether?
Partners: how many hours, including billable hours, do you need to work for a year? More than associates’ hours, or less, or about the same?
I’m generally a person who likes to keep my firm life and personal life separate. I usually only do the happy hours and what not. I like my colleagues, but I’ve just always wanted to maintain a fine line. But recently I found out that my colleagues are all going out with each other and feel left out now. I should add that I am single since that may matter. Has anyone dealt with this?
Insights on Orrick IP group?
I am a junior biglaw lit associate who is extremely extroverted. Unfortunately, I’m realizing that so far litigation hasn’t been as great for extroverts as advertised. Is this just the nature of being a junior attorney in any practice anywhere? Are there specific specialties within litigation that extroverts particularly enjoy? I generally like what I do but working crazy hours in mostly isolation doesn’t seem sustainable long term for my personality type.
I’ve seen this rant a lot so I know we all have that one partner—but for the love of god can you just forward me the emails when you get it?? I see you got this urgent request over 10 days ago 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
A partner (whom I don’t work for and barely know) followed up on a menial task, and when I replied asking for more info, he said, “I’ll give it to you tomorrow, but I thought this was done a month ago.” Wait…you mean, you thought it was done a month ago when I billed 310 hours and 6 associates left our group and we’ve only managed to replace 3 of them?

What I’m hoping for is another set of retention bonuses.
I think they are coming early 2022
I’m looking at Milbank. Not sure how big the increase will be but I’m betting someone steps it up at least a little.
Yeah, they were first mover on bonuses recently in 2019 but they were also the first mover on salary increases this year I think, which was a much bigger move IMO.
No one knows anything though, just making a no-stakes guess.
If anyone beats it it will be by a very small amount.
K but i want that small amount
