How much should I charge a friend to watch 4 dogs at their home over Christmas weekend (2 nights)? The dogs don't have any special needs or medications. I've dog sat for other people in the past but always for free. I also have had dogs of my own for most of my life. I want to start charging people for my services but also want to be reasonable since this is a friend and don't plan to charge a holiday fee. We live in St. Louis. Would $40 per day/night be reasonable?

Anyone frustrated by needing to take vacation days off for Jewish holidays?

Employer requires use of vacation for sick days for non-exempt salaried employees, then surprises everyone with a forced, unpaid week at the end of the year due to shutdowns. At this point, most people that can afford to plan for the week of vacation time they have to use at the end of the year.

Is this common practice? I am pretty sure it is completely legal, but still seems like a bad policy.

Looking to leave my current role, in industry (engineering/manufacturing) and to get back into big 4 (same firm as well), however I have a 3 month holiday planned from December next year.

My entire team (I’m Senior with most tenure) is terrified of our Manager, who is confrontational, rude, and stand-offish. Everyone including the other seniors on my engagement are scared to talk to this manager and you can hear in their voice they’re nervous. Funny thing is is once the partner gets on the phone the manager is the nicest most bubbly person in the firm! So two-faced.

What are the pay raises/salaries for an auditor as you advance through your career? Like from A1 to A2 and then S1, etc.?

Audit Partners — Do you see longterm profitability of audit in general? Is it going to be worth being a partner, financially, given the risk you take on, in 10-15 years? With audit bids increasingly being driven way down by competition, & lower level resources demanding (much) higher pay than it was historically, I’m not convinced the partner track is still as enticing as it was pre-Covid. Seems like the job market/higher staff pay alone has GOT to be taking a huge cut into partner pay.
