So with all the chat on here about how easy it is to get hired, are you as a hiring manager putting more emphasis into screening and challenging interviewees than before as a response? I ask because I successfully went through an interview process and have no idea how a candidate who wasn’t well versed in the cases, practice, and even consulting exp would be able to pass.

Previously, the process went through a whole host of qualified candidates who passed through all of those hurdles and then had to pick 1 person using some arbitrary criteria (e.g. "cultural fit"). In that time, all of the candidates who passed through the process were qualified. Now, they have (overall) fewer candidates per spot mostly due to increased demand and competition for talent. As such, they're picking more of the folks who go through the process. TL;DR - Standards aren't being lowered. Firms are just picking more of the candidates who meet those standards than before.

This is not the time to be picky unless the work is very technical! You snooze you loose. You will lose more money trying to find the best candidate for a role.

There are a million users here and you see a few dozen people talking about how easy it is to get hired
