So...wondering for a friend - what’s FCB Chicago like?? Specifically, is it a sweatshop?

My experience at FCB Chicago: competitive culture. Supportive (majority female) leaders. Opportunities to make good work. New CCO who seems excited about the work and pushing the culture here. Not taking away from what Copywriter 1 posted, just wanted to mention I’ve had a very different experience (and sorry that was yours, @C1). Hours-wise it depends on the account. If it’s a pitch or a major project for a major client you’ll work some weekends but nothing consistent, in my experience. My work/life balance has never been better.

FWIW I really enjoyed working with Andrés at BBDO and think he will be a net positive for the culture at FCB

Furthest thing from a sweatshop I’ve seen. This place (CHI) is almost always a ghost town after 6, on every floor.

That doesn’t mean people aren’t working a lot more evening hours at home.

Copy1 says it all. FCB1 you are almost right about being competitive, but the only culture in there is lots of sketchy and shady politics. There are better places out there.

I was partnered with a straight up lady gangster while freelancing there. Brutal up and down emotional roller coaster. She was anti-ECD (Who was eventually booted). So much back stabbing. I lost total respect for what I thought was supposed to be one of the best shops in the city.

My favorite agency I’ve worked for so far. Like @FCB3 said a good 90 percent of the place is empty past 6

After working at Ogilvy Chicago, FCB is a cake walk. Sure, I’ve had a few late nights and crazy deadlines. But not one member on my team has given me a hard time about taking care of my health or anyone having issues when someone needs to run out because of kids, there’s no questions asked. I’ve found a team atmosphere that, sure, is hella competitive like any agency, but competitive in a way that is about the work.
