Solo that has outgrown DIY document management/billing. Looking to make the leap to an integrated document management and billing software system. Clio is the front runner based on my research to date (I have not yet taken it for the free test drive). Anyone else have any recommendations? Any obvious shortcomings/downfalls with Clio? I worked at large firms before going it alone and have used several of the major doc management systems. Thanks!

My Case is great! Easy to use. Efficient. Affordable

like

Yes, I second Mycase!!! Affordable, user-friendly and great customer service.

like

Thanks. I will check it out.

I’ve used Clio, Worldox, and iManage. iManage is definitely the absolute worst one, Clio somewhere in the middle, and Worldox was better but honestly not something I’d shout from the rooftops about.

Thanks. Agree re imanage and found worldox tolerable. Worksite also so-so.

I also love MyCase. It allows me to text clients from within the app (so it’s not coming from my personal phone) and they automatically are incorporated into the case if you text from the program/app. I have a client right now who is only progressing through the case if we text. So, I am rest assured I don’t have to use a program to screen capture our texts from my phone.

It’s also really intuitive to use and if there is something you need from the program that it is not providing then they seem pretty open to considering adding whatever you need if they can do so.

Finally, clients can upload documents through an online interface and if they do, it is automatically in the case where it belongs and I don’t have to do anything to associate it with the case.

Made the transition to Clio a few years back and it’s been great.

I’m interviewing at outside companies during my performance review cycle.

All signs point to a positive performance review so far and my manager has even brought up the very likely possibility of a promotion within the next six weeks.

But I’m interviewing elsewhere as I’d like to open myself up to different opportunities due to the work culture and compensation in my current role.

Will accepting a promotion and then potentially leaving weeks after hurt my resume and burn bridges? Any advice?

What should I start focusing on from now to make that change happen? What soft skills/hard skills do I need to develop? Continued in comments…

I’ve recently come to the conclusion that I have no passion for the work I’m doing. While I love the craft of storytelling and enjoy working with many of my colleagues, I have zero interest in the accounts I’m on, have concerns about the flailing leadership at my agency and am at a crossroads. But I’m at a point in my life where I’d rather be running toward something amazing vs running away from something I dislike. Looking for stories of those who made a switch, no regrets. Thank you.

Thoughts...10+ years practical/management experience in/around legal field in FL (includes state government, in-house non-profit, civil practice, etc.). Two years ago took a job to relocate closer to where I want to be...but not sure if being valued and compensated appropriately. It’s a smaller firm, salary $75k, not too much in way of bonuses so maybe $5k, but always step up to plate with assisting management as leader for operational contributions and I meet annual revenue goals around $300k.

So I just accidentally found out that the senior associate in our office makes almost 3x the amount I do per month. Is it normal for there to be that big of a difference in pay? I just want to know if I’m getting screwed.

Been practicing a year now. Of 6 attorneys, 4 will be retiring soon, and I was brought in to hopefully take over. I am troubled: first that my partners largely provide me with no guidance. They handed me a client with a large quantity of fairly straightforward casework and have been hands off since. There also hasn’t been any talk of a raise/performance review. How should I ask for guidance/mentor ship? How do I ask for a raise, or should I presume one is coming?
