I use other corp codes all the time. Never been asked. Just have a big scowl on your face. They never bother you
Denver ritz Carlton made me show a business card to verify before. And I’ve been busted using a friend’s employer discount prior to working at EY at a Sheraton before
There’s always a risk that you could be denied check in or charged a full rate if you’re unable to prove you are permitted to use a rate. Usually the front desk will check if they’re full, you don’t appear to qualify (you and family or friends show up on a Friday or Saturday using a corporate rate), etc. Properties outside the US are much more likely to check in my experience, especially in Germany, Japan and South Korea, but it can happen anywhere, such as I got this week from a new front desk agent at a property in London where many staff know me by name.
I have actually been told by a courtyard that if I can’t prove my employment or verify I should be using the code they wouldn’t honor the rate during my next stay
There is also a possibility that the hotel can lose a long term customer trying to check business cards
