Or the good ones get burned out and leave, then only the shitty ones are left and get promoted to senior bc ppl don't provide honest reviews...
And soon they’ll be on a PIP or be coached out. It all evens out in the end.
Those shitty associates will be gone in a year. Seen this movie so many times.
Op EY 2 here. If the good staff tell me they are going to be low on work I’ll give them everything. But when we are slammed with a crap load of work then I give them the interesting stuff. You take care of me and I will take care of you.
GT1, thats exactly what happens. I'm a new hire and have more work than some people who are going to be made seniors next year. The "time" aspect of being promoted is shit... they need to reward the people who can handle being a Senior and not just the people who refuse to quit.
This is my life as the senior. But unfortunately our good associates are far too busy. So I get stuck doing the work.

If an associate delivered a crap work product to me, they get more clerical or mindless work. I tend to reward the associates that do good work by giving them the more challenging/new task. If your doing a good job don’t worry about them. When you move up and they don’t, that promotion and pay raise will make it (somewhat) worth it.
GT1 I feel this is what’s happening... some partners at my group still publicly praise those shitty one at meetings...
EY2 I understand. If I were a senior I would do the same. But those ppl got utilization with easy mindless work? Yet the good ones have to take a hit on reviews because they might have a hard time to keep up with the harder work?
