[insert desperate, maniacal laughter here] We're doing last year's PSATs, etc next week for the high school kids as well as MAP tests (from NWEA) for the middle school kids. This year's tests are scheduled for April. Teachers have to change everything they're doing but those government mandates aren't changing. What *will* decrease testing is when colleges stop requiring it, which is happening. Or when parents get ahold of the research that essentially says standardized tests only measure how well you can take standardized tests & pull their kids out of them. Politicians won't give up such an easy (if meaningless) metric on their own.
There is a LOT of money in standardized testing. And parents who are advantaged like the edge the tests give their kids.
