Some success, now what? I started a solo practice July 2020. I’ve been successful in building a book of business sufficient to satisfy my overhead and provide me with a respectable income. I want to grow my practice somehow, but I’m stuck at figuring out how. I do mainly corporate transactional work and some litigation. Any advice?

I’m in a similar boat and have been going through a soul-searching exercise of what is it that I really want to do. Have seen others in similar positions decide to grow by retraining attorneys, recruiting fresh out of law school, hiring ex-biglaw attorneys, adding paralegals, experimenting with tech, etc. I think it really depends on what kind of firm you want to have and how you want to get there.

I’m happy to bounce ideas and share my experiences. Ironically, working with our web design agency really forced me to answer a lot of these questions. I’ve had some good luck with contract attorneys, mostly from my existing network, but it’s been tough to source good ones. If you’re interested, DM me and I can share my b/g and maybe we can jump on a quick call.

Thanks! Any idea which ones may be better than others? Feel free to DM if that’s easier.

How did you get clients,m

Variety. I’ve been practicing for 10 years. Have a big network and my last gig was GC.

Got selected in TCS, how much should I ask for package and will they match my offers?

Hustle culture is responsible for this. We are afraid that we are not doing enough, not being competitive enough.
In this whole process we forget to ask ourselves- "If I were to die in next 1 year, is this really what I want to be doing?"

I only like pant-suits (no skirt-suit recs please). I am hourglass-shaped, with big hips + 32DD bust and a small waist, overall a size 4-6. I tend to like skinny pants in a suit. Would love fun color pant-suits (like dark green, etc.)

Thanks for any tips!

I’m torn because the other firm is under the impression I’m coming in as a partner. But I can’t turn away from the significant offer I have from my current firm, where I enjoy working. I need some words of wisdom from this esteemed bowl. I have been an associate for almost 2 years in civil litigation with my bread and butter being family and marital law. I have the drive and desire to operate a solo practice with an emphasis on family law as that is my most comfortable area. I've been loved by all my clients and believe I have the charisma to attract new ones. It's not a matter of if I'll go solo but when. Any advice and/or potential pitfalls of going solo so soon?
