Somebody tell me imposter syndrome goes away at some point… 6th year associate here who still feels like he is “playing lawyer.” Seems like every triumph I have is met with a failure, which makes it tough to stay positive and be more confident. Any tips on increasing professional confidence besides “fake it ‘til ya make it”?

Hang out with people who recognize your strengths and sometimes remind you of them. Good colleagues really help.

Is this imposter syndrome or you just being a mediocre attorney?

funny

Tough to tell. I get consistently good reviews, repeat work, am on “important” associate committees, etc. but I definitely still feel like a mediocre attorney.

I agree with the post above about therapy helping with this. Although I am a therapist so I'm probably biased 😂

In all seriousness though, if you've been struggling with this for 8 years some coaching or therapy could really help.

EMDR for performance and mindset is great, as is coaching.

Any moms who really badly wanted a girl but ended up with a boy(s)? How do you feel now? Do you still want a girl? Would you try again? Does it matter really, or was it just in your head?

Had a difficult relationship with my mom growing up, so always wanted that closeness with my future daughter. FTM having a boy and a little disappointed, but feeling guilty for that too. Difficult pregnancy so likely won't have another. But I want a girl. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Please no woke left gender drama responses. Thanks.

I've been dragging writing this dissertation FOREVER (data collected back in 2018). In the past 5 years I’ve been a doctoral student , I have never focused on writing for more than 3 hours a day. I think I can finish this eventually.
