There is none.
Depends on how you would define the (present and future) metaverse and envision any associated products and services.
To start, two applications of the metaverse in the shorter-term future (i.e., theoretically implementable in some form today) might include:
(1) Enhance higher-end digital ‘front door’ experience.
-Big caveat that this will not be a priority for most health systems that have 999 other priorities.
-Where’s the money to fund this? Likely won’t be able to get anything of this sort covered for a long time until you can show benefits. In other words, there is likely some value here, but it will take a lot of effort to realize this value.
-In the long-term future, most/all health care will be digital/virtual, leaving significant implications for the metaverse (or something similar) on how patients and providers interface.
(2) Integrate metaverse with individualized treatment and SDOH.
-e.g., therapeutic/BH applications, socializing/gaming applications for children with atypical behavior or learning
-Think SDOH and how health care is progressively moving towards integration of health/wellness with non-traditional health systems (e.g., education, prisons, foster care system). Plenty of applications once you expand your thinking this way, and also potential for reimbursement as well (one day).
Initial thought : digital marketplace for specialists?
