S/he is not wrong for asking, but it does display a concerning amount of ignorance. When 90+ of leadership is white, you have to question what's going on through the pipeline. Ppl in industry (decision makers) seem to believe that either underrepresented diversity talent is just incapable of doing the job at the highest level, or only white ppl are. It's gross and blatant.

We work in consulting, we're smart enough to do our homework and understand that taking an interest in retaining underrepresented groups is not a threat to the status quo.

Thank you B1. I'm not being dismissive. I'm not going to explain why underrepresented people deserve to be advocated for. I said that the person who asked the question isn't wrong for asking, but the ask shows a lack of understanding. I'd love for people to not be judged by how they look, but I'm going to do something about it, not troll and cry racism like A2

I get where A2 is coming from, but they're being a little shortsighted here. There is more leading to lower retention rates of "diverse" candidates than their performance on projects. For example, most team events are geared towards white heterosexual able-bodied people. What about those with autism who don't want to / can't go to happy hours? What about people of color who go to volunteer with the "underprivileged" and all the volunteers are white while all the underprivileged are their color? Added together, over and over, these things affect you and can add stress to your life or make you decide that this whitewashed hetero industry isn't the right place for you. We need to judge on merit, yes, but we also need to create environments conducive to growth for ALL types of people. Much easier said than done but I appreciate that our firms are trying

I like how you continue to try and kill any examination of the issue. You are right and everybody else is a troll, right? It's wrong to have a competitive advantage just because you are white. Likewise, it's wrong to have a competitive advantage for being a person of color.

BAH and “diversity”. A joke. Are you represented at your firms senior leadership levels? The BAH office here on the west coast addressed the BLM during a virtual all hands a few weeks ago or so. They asked a black employee to make a statement about it (typical) but what really irked me is how they showed a senior leadership offsite photo. This photo consisted of all the SAs and above. 16 people. All white, 1 black. No Asians, no Hispanic, no IPOC. How diverse is your senior team?

I have an EB-3 petition in progress. Waiting for my EAD/AP card, courtesy of being current for 2 glorious months. But the dates have now regressed, and EB-2 is moving forward faster.
