You can report them on LinkedIn. Our team will handle it from there and request that they provide proof they had that role / experience. It’s not fair to people who worked hard to earn that experience, so would suggest you go and report it. https://www.linkedin.com/help/linkedin/answer/30200/reporting-inaccurate-information-on-another-member-s-profile?lang=en

A1, you don't have to be at a dedicated consulting firm to do consulting work. A large proportion of companies with a B2B presence have external facing consulting roles, and at some large companies you'll even see internal facing consultants (though center of excellence models). More so, I expect there are lots of folks here who've exited into totally non-consulting functions, but can offer much more perspective on consulting than an MBB associate.

Here is an anecdote for you: During my stint at a PE firm, besides the usual investing activities, I used to also run associate recruiting. During one particular recruiting season we had a candidate that seemed great on paper (“candidate X”). We brought him in...he rocked the interview. A couple days after us extending him a verbal offer, an old college buddy of mine called asking if we had received a resume from “candidate X”, which of course we had. My buddy was at another PE fund who was also in the midst of recruiting. He found a major discrepancy on X’s resume. It wasn’t small either, Eg, gpa rounding. I’m talking blatant fabrication. We confronted X, he gave some BS excuse, and in the end we rescinded X’s offer. I’m super happy we did too because the person who took X’s spot turned out to be an absolute rockstar and overall great guy. OP, I’m not saying you should report this person but let’s not kid ourselves... a lie on a resume can potentially have major implications. Heck, one of you could be the one losing out on an opportunity because of someone else’s lie.

... why and how does this affect you?

likefunny

Are you their direct manager? How do you know what they’re doing and not doing? By the way, even if you’re their project manager you might not know what else they’re doing. I had my first PM confront me about how it was possible I was doing tableau when this was my first project and I was doing BA work under them. I let them know to talk to another PM who I had been helping since I took tableau courses in college

Ignore it and move on. You sound like an obnoxious tattle tale.

But, to be fair.. OP wants to report this cause he personally knows the individual and think this will affect him. Is not like he is actively finding ways to correct everyone's profiles and stuff... He is doing this because he thinks it will have a direct impact on his future. So... You don't actually know if this is for other people's benefit. That is to say, he is not stepping in the way of any robbery, he is merely trying to avoid his

I got in a huge workplace fued with a colleague. After he sent me texts threatening me and swearing at me I sent it to HR he was fired. I considered this guy my nemesis, I hated him. He did nothing but stall progress and complain all the time. Months later I checked his LinkedIn to see what he is doing, and he completely lied about the position he formerly held and his responsibilities. He contributed literally nothing and acted like he did everything Do know what I did? Nothing, because I could literally care less. I suggest you do the same

like

Let it go. Do you really need to knock a person down who’s now walking a separate life from yours? Ultimately, if the thing they lied about is a skill that they’ll need to display, the truth will come in time. That truth may even be that they do indeed have the ability to perform the position they said, but never got to display it in the engagement with your company. Companies and managers like to filter out people who don’t have certain “credentials”. At the end of the day, if you can deliver to what you say, where is the lie. Isn’t that how we operate with our clients?

Let it go OP. Do your own thing. You will live a happier life.

I’m a late 40’s, 3rd year Partner in Big4 who joined as a DEMD after 2 decades in industry. I’m weighing an offer to join another Firm - it’s a straight comp play for 30% higher Comp for a similar role. I realize that the BS is mostly the same at all B4, so I don’t think for a second the grass is greener. But the comp is nice, and I’m not vested enough to lose much money. Did anyone here make a similar jump to another Firm, and in the end, was it a genius move, or did you come to regret it?

Most companies offer 2 or 3 weeks vacation for new employees. Is it a big turn-off to hiring managers for a request of 4 weeks? Have competing offers from EY and KPMG UK Economic advisory teams( Manager/Snr Exec level). KPMG's UK technical rep and comp offer is better, but the hours appear longer. EY UK Director has had several calls selling culture (diversity and work life balance). Is there actually a substantive emphasis on this by EY? Or are 50+ hour weeks quite common? I suspect it's going to be quite team dependent/ project dependent, and therefore a gamble in any case. Thanks for any perspectives.
