Anyone here from Investment Banking at Houlihan Lokey, Evercore or Lazard in London (UK)? I’m currently working in Corporate Finance M&A in GT UK. I’d want to move to one of these banks next year so would like to know about work culture, teams, opportunities, salaries and bonuses. Appreciate your kind help on this
Im receiving these from some colleauges also and its kinda like - wtf, we ALL want that time off but if I end up having to work because a partner or client is harrassing me that week, and you are the junior on my team, im going to ask for your help too, OOO or not (or you yourself can line up coverage and ruin someone elses holiday for deals they are not on).

With Att2 and A6 on this.
I do not think anyone has said anything about getting into shouting matches but I think we would need to know more about the situation to know who the partner would side with. From what is described I would guess the mid-level. On the other hand that junior is probably new to work so it might just need to be explained to them in a kind manner.
I do it for the benefit of international clients

And anyone international you deal with. I am not in the US and I need the reminder same as I would do it the other way round.
Why LOL? Wednesday isn’t a day people normally take off, and if you’re putting an OOO for wednesday, might as well just do the rest of the week.
I take Wednesday, Friday, and Tuesday off on thanksgiving week. #InHouseGang
Just did this myself. I hate this about the industry we are in.
The second firm I joined about 5 years back - my supervising partner said expressly on the first day "we don't do OOO in our team. I expect everyone to be contactable at any given time.".
That was a sad LOL moment.
I prefaced it with I’m not going to physically be in the office but will help if needed.
Doesn’t hurt (the person that sends it, definitely hurts others on the deal) and thanksgiving is one of the less wild holidays I’ve had to work through. I get your sentiment but I used to make a third of this biglaw salary with similar hours so imo it comes w the territory
Being asked to work on thanksgiving proper is where I would draw the line as a first year
