Easy to say when you're not the one answering the phone for Plaintiffs calling every two seconds for a cASe uPDAtE until it's time for discovery and all the sudden they are nowhere to be found.

I'm fine.

I a mid-level litigator and have an offer at a FAANG, however, I still have roughly $230,000 in student debt. If I can delay my start until June, I will receive the newest round of special bonuses and can make a lump sum payment of ~$50,000 (all principal with the 0%). If I decline the offer and stay with my firm, I can make another $50,000 payment at the end of the year. I ultimately want to be in house, preferably in tech. Would I be crazy to decline to use the bonuses to make big chunk pmnts?

I have been put me up for promotion the last 2 cycles but my speciality group has not wrote a business case. When I asked what I could do I was told nothing-not enough work to support an additional manager. I've recently heard 3 other seniors in my department are being promoted. All 3 have been at the firm for less time than I have, they have less prof experience but are in different regions.

How would you handle salary negotiation?

Class of 21. Took a job at a small general service firm in a tertiary market ~6mos ago because I wanted hands-on experience quickly. Compensation is ~$60k, which felt a little low but considering the low COL and the fact that I hadn't even been admitted to the bar yet, not bad.

How/when should I negotiate for an increase in compensation? My instinct is to ask for a salary bump to $80k around the one year mark.

I enjoy the firm and the work.

Just had an interview with a Senior Partner, was more of a chat and we got along really well. The interview ended with the partner saying they would get HR to set up a call for me with another member of the team. Any thoughts on this? I personally think its a bit weird to have an interview with a senior partner and then another team member?

So I got 2 offers, 1 at a well-known firm (that I previously worked at, not as an atty) that offered 80K plus full benefits (100% health coverage, PTO, sick days, discretionary bonus & 1800 billable req.) Their a little old school in their methods but I do see the younger gen. coming in to make changes. 2nd offer is at a newer firm however i’ve heard great things, and they offered 80k, unl. PTO, 1500 billable hours, bonus incentives qrtrly, & 50% health ins. WHY can’t I make a decision? HELP

Hey guys,

Just a paralegal here trying to not dwell on the small things in life.
Recently got a 141 on my LSAT with no studying - I feel like a failure in life. Can someone please explain to me how good or bad my score may be? I re-take in January and if there is no resolution to this algorithm, I will just take my professor advise and lean towards public policy. Law is my passion but I don’t want to lead myself into an endless walk of shame ending where I am now. Any thoughts?

Anyone ever experience a firm significantly misrepresenting a position they hired you for? I recently took a position with a firm to practice a specific type of litigation. Turns out the firm only has about 5 cases in that field and they are all already staffed up. Now I’m stuck at a firm I barely like doing work that’s completely irrelevant to my experience and career goals, and I feel like leaving within a year is a bad look resume wise

Getting away ahead of myself here, but a college friend is now a CEO at a rapidly growing tech company (just raised $50m in VC funding) and he approached me about an in house role at his company. He told me interviewing would largely be a formality. Interview is to take place first week of January. Bonus gets paid in early February, meaning the soonest I would be able to leave is late February, meaning the soonest I could start is early March. This timing doesn’t work. Do I forgo the bonus?
