Sometimes I feel like yelling at people "I'm growing two humans right now and I did XYZ faster and better. What's your excuse?" Other days I just want to curl up in bed because that's all I can handle. Unfortunately I can't do either because I don't want to sacrifice a promotion year in addition to my body by people's perception I won't be up to it.

Kudos to you kicking ass in everything you do momma. But I implore you to change your perspective a bit. Running yourself to the ground doesn't earn medals. There is no award ceremony to celebrate the most tired mom. 5 years from now you might wish you'd prioritized your health. You can take a year off and let go of the gas pedal, not because you are incapable, but precisely because you ARE capable. When you get back after resting and recovering after maternity leave, know that you'll be back full steam and be a force to be reconned with.

I feel this. I had a colleague who constantly slacked, made excuses, didn’t show up to work, etc. I had to pick up her workload when I was in the first trimester nausea/fatigue spiral. I wanted to just scream at her every time she had a lame excuse for why her work wasn’t done . It’s tough. But hang in there. Moms are superheroes.

I took it on because it was a temporary, unique situation happening on a Super Bowl campaign 2 weeks before launch. There was literally no one else to do the work, and I’m lucky I was healthy enough to do that so our whole team wasn’t at risk of getting fired by the client for her behavior. I got it done while documenting it all, fired her immediately post-campaign and got someone better. So it all worked out.

Ugh same right now. Heading into a crazy month at work and someone unexpectedly left the project team because he had too much going on and of course I am the one who has to pick up the slack. So glad I'm not in the office so no one can see me timidly snacking on crackers and taking afternoon naps. I'm too early to say anything to the team so have no choice but to take it on. We got this!

I hear ya. Are you currently expecting twins? Which week are you? I’m 10w.

Wow that quad stroller is serious! Looks like the ones they used to use at daycare! I always loved these tables at daycare…. But not very practical for kids who grow so fast! 🤣

I have been poached by my manager about a promotion and am working on a review to share with him. I have continued to express my interest in working on an upcoming brand strategy work, my manager agreed verbally. I just found out that he actually gave the work to a new AE of my team. When I approached him, he didn't give much explanation but that my time will come. How should I navigate this?

I’d love some help thinking through this. I’m currently renting for $1600 base ($1800 total) and live in the least desirable part of town, and expect it to raise to about $2k/month. I was planning to buy my first property in the city and Airbnb part of it, but it will take me about a year to save up the cash (~$500k starting). Eventual goal is to move more rural but trying to build to FI. I found a property in my ideal dream location for $280k but it needs work, and can’t Airbnb it. Continued

Hello Friends, Can an employee get Promotion or hike during Notice Period ? Thanks in Advance for the answer.

I have an awesome opportunity to apply for a promotion that would give me additional responsibilities but a faster track to leadership. I am also 10 weeks pregnant with my first confirmation appt next week. I want to go for it but feel bad about applying when I would go on mat leave in about 6-7 months, pending everything is on track with my first appt. Wanting advice on whether to apply or not and whether to disclose the pregnancy?

Genuine question: What are the most common exit options at Google BizOps? (1) For internal transfer to PM, those teams seem to prefer to hire Google engineers. (2) For internal transfer to Chief of Staff, why those teams don’t promote their own Strategy & Op folks? (3) For BizOps internal promotion, there are not many Director positions. (4) For leaving Google, I don’t know where people usually go… Please share your thoughts / correct me if I’m wrong. Thanks!
