You hit the nail on the head for me. Not a start up but still a smaller company where I’m driving everything accounting and finance.

It’s a combination of a ton of factors. I’m currently going into the office and I miss working from home. My team of 5 direct reports lack a lot of the skills you get with EY staff, whether it’s taking coaching and actually improving or the work ethic. I never took my work at EY too seriously because I understood it goes through review after me and worst case is you get an inspection finding. Current job I’m way more stressed because if we don’t pay bills it falls back on me. There’s only the CFO above me so the preparer reviewer system isn’t as straight he forward. Way more random calls and fires I need to deal with and currently don’t know the job well enough to be able to handle them appropriately. The consistency at EY was comfortable and it was easy transitions level to level. My job now is way more meaningful work, but damn does it stress me out more

It gets better! I love the work life balance and you get comfortable with the every day. Then you start having fun being part of the decision making...yes stressful at times but remember most things in accounting can be fixed! As far as your team - you have to learn who are the doers (aka the people who want to come in and do the same job everyday) and realize that’s okay. You need those people! But then find the people like your public associates who want to grow and learn and give them challenges - they will often surprise you.

Then repeat that process over and over until your company is down 50%

Hey fishes,

I got an offer from a company below is the compensation layout. Can you all tell me what will be the in-hand salary per month, will it be 49k?
I can see that EPF for employer is also deducted from my salary so this is not correct based on the EPF Act, is there some other thing which is not correct in the given Annexure?

Thank you!

Hey everyone! I am a CPA, started at PwC, now the assistant controller at a small/medium sized Ag company. Thus far, the plan has been to follow the CFO path. But recently I have been longing for more social/client facing interactions. I am very extroverted. I love meeting and connecting with new people and would like to incorporate that into my career. Any thoughts on possible career paths that would combine my experience in accounting with a more socially fulfilling job?
