Sometimes I subcontract other freelancers, and I have a request - invoice for your work promptly. If it’s more than 30 days since the work was accepted, that’s just sloppy and rude.

I never understand this... don’t people want to be paid?!

Or keep an eye on their books.

Question— when you subcontract, how do you bill the client and how much transparency? Do you show them the quote and bill for your time? Charge a markup? Avoid showing the quote? Also, where do you find trusted subcontractors ?

I realize that’s not helpful. If I’m in a jam, I might offer my full rate and just pass it on straight to the client (after paying the sub myself). If I have more time, I negotiate the rate so I can earn at least 50% from the client.

And if a markup — what %?

You did hire them, maybe send a reminder before 30 days pass?

It is sloppy and rude though, agreed.

How to politely decline unsolicited advice? A colleague of the same pay grade as me is leading a task and I am helping him with it. He keeps giving me unsolicited suggestions and feedback in shared chat, and he blamed me for something in a group call. I am scared that this is making me look bad in front of others when I am doing all the work assigned the best I can. How do I let him know I don’t want his advice? Is it okay if I ignore his advice or will it come off as rude?

Parents want to send their children back to school not only for educational purposes but also for social interactions. I do understand that many children want that interaction with their friends and teachers. But I don't think it is going to be quite as rewarding as many think with social distancing and face coverings to be safe. No high fives, pats on the back, sharing earbuds to listen to a new song, or consoling an upset friend. Even facial expressions are lost. Tough times.

Hi Fishes,

Good Evening!!

I got an offer from Wells Fargo and planned to join next month. But my current organization compensated and retained me. I informed the same to Wells Fargo HR.

But hiring manager from Wells Fargo scolded me on ping and said that I won't get any opportunity from Wells Fargo in future.

Kindly let me know is it possible to block my profile.

Thanks.

However I’m having a crisis of faith right now. I’m appalled and embarrassed by the way in which the Catholic Church in America (where I now live) is IMO unashamedly political (cont.)
