Sometimes I wonder... Is this all worth the pay?

Lol it is obviously not

If you're doing this for the money, you're here for the wrong reasons.

Lol at PwC 3. You know who gets to say they're not doing it for the money? People who do their jobs for fun, for free, in their spare time, like doctors and programmers. I've yet to see a B4 auditor offer to perform accounting services for struggling small local businesses for free.

When are the sometimes? It seems like partners make a lot but they put in so many years

like

@PwC4: I have seen that, although that's not what I meant (and you know it). People are here to get experience, build resumes, and find exit opportunities. If you're here for rent money, you're inevitably going to be miserable.

Only sometimes?

I do it cause I love making sure the numbers tie.

like

Nope!

While the pay is good, we still take a discount to our industry equivalents. This is for two reasons. 1) the experience also has a value to it, which the firm realizes and 2) the payout at partner is substantial. Unless you're staying for one of those two reasons, then no, the pay is not worth it.

@EY3 when they don't tie it can be a real pain or when you don't catch a tieout. Once you've been doing this long enough it gets old

Should have a partner's opinion on this. If you want to reach to top, then suck it up or enjoy the work

Maybe summer summers? But Definitely not the busy season hours, not worth it at all.

I just was in a 3 process interview, which included modern hire interview, interview with hiring manager and interview with senior director(Boss’s boss) for another company. The hiring manager liked me and the interview went well to progress, the next interview also went well. In this situation who would make the final decision to hire me? And what would be the reasons I could miss out on the job after having a 30 min final interview (FIT) with the senior director

McKinsey/BCG folks - work wise, have heard a few times that the most apparent difference with both firms is the management style. Mck adopts a more top-down approach whilst BCG a bottom-up. Would you say this is true? Would love to hear your stories too!

Do you record your unbillable time? I have had conflicting responses. I have been told it's not good for efficiency calculations but others have told me if your still doing work let people know. For example, I get weird international stuff sometimes that not everyone gets (I think maybe? ) and I need to reread the 5471 rules or 8865 rules as I do the returns. I have been told not to bill for this but if I didn't have to spend time to do such things my billable hours would be higher
