Started at a new firm 3 months ago, first two months was swamped staffed on a huge deal, (my only file) did my hours everything good. July: deal was supposed to close did not due to regulatory stuff but my work stream is done and over and am now really really slow, asked for work to people I had worked with to help them close - nothing, staffed on a new deal , client on vacation so everything is on stand by. I’m freaking out don’t know how to reach to partners/senior associates (ctd in comments)
Searching for hobby suggestions/ideas. I’ve been struggling to focus lately and it’s been difficult for me to focus on my usual hobbies (reading, building an app side project etc). Ideally, looking for a hobby that can help with de-stressing and decompressing during my unwind time after logging off in the evenings; not something super strenuous. Thanks in advance!
Potential agency boomerang having a hard time making a decision to stay brand-side or go back. Need some advice! Do I leave the brand, being "the client," fun work, great WLB, as well as the most toxic work environment I've ever experienced and meh pay? Do I go back to agency lead a new team with significant responsibilities, forget about WLB, sell my soul alongside smart people, get great pay and benefits? PS: I'm a mom and brand-side for 5 years. What do I need to know!? Thank you!
Re-watching the Javy Baez walkoff last night against the Reds and absolutely loved the fire/smack talking in a series where there’s historical bad blood between the two. Which leads me to wonder, is there any sort of sense of rivalry at all between competitor firms? We joke about it through avenues like social media but has anyone actually first-hand experienced a competitive/hateful side to work that they didn’t know existed? (Like when a client is poached or business won from a competitor).
A client based in Japan had sent us a list of some Japanese texts and their English translations at our request which we needed. SM: Copy all the Japanese texts and their translations from document that client sent into a new document and send it back to client (to whom it came from) and ask them if they are correct. Me: Why are we doing that? SM: Just to ensure that we have validation in an email that client sent these translations to us. Me: Facepalm 🤦🏻♂️
If you’ve been at the same client b/c you’re constantly winning work there, does it help when it comes time for promotion? I heard it’s generally the fast track to a promo but not sure if it’s true.
Anyone here exit to PE post b school? Did you have PE experience prior. Am hearing even I go to hsw, you need PE experience to get back to a PE vp. I’ve heard just a few few shops hire mbb finance project folks
I inherited a small team of 3 in Portugal who are great but need a bit of upskilling on client communication (they’re often overly blunt / forward for clients in the US market). What would you recommend doing to improve this?
Poll - Have companies started travel to client sites? Which companies? I know Deloitte team members are traveling. Also, I see a new trend based on interactions with a few people. Most prefer remote
You’re given a brief for an OOO campaign. Could be cool. How many days are you given before you have to show concepts to the ECD? And to the client? Curious about time expectations at different places.
Wondering how freelance producers are doing in this climate. I was let go when a project ended. Have heard most agencies are trying to use staffers since clients are cutting way back
Also, how many times do you receive an “urgent request” before the client goes on vacation? Here’s this important stuff I need done, but won’t be around to answer questions until 2 days before due.
First stay at the St Regis. If they had these in all my project cities I'd be soooo happy...
Looking to apply in slalom. 12 YOE with 8 in Agile Project/Program management. Can someone provide referral and help me decide what level I should aim for ? Roles just mention Agile Delivery Lead etc. Currently an SC at D
Is anybody else having an issue obtaining cyber liability insurance? We have a client that wants additional insured and waiver of subrogation status which the market doesn’t seem to keen on.
I think my problem is that I will never care as much about client service as I do about sleep
How do I know I need to review a SOC report? If I’m relying on a report, yes I need to. But what about those applications that client uses as back-up center (AWS for instance). Do I still need to review SOC? What about applications used for record keeping but not processing of transactions (Quickbooks for instance)?
Coming from a big 4 - Can we mention the names of the clients we have worked with over the years when interviewing? I am at a boutique agency now working with some people who came from Accenture and some other consulting companies and I noticed that they will reference their clients by brand name. If it is a past project and you do not give any client sensitive information is it OK to share the names of the brands that you've worked with in your previous role? What's standard?
Seeing industry roles that are pretty cool but require minimum 3 years of experience. I have nearing 6 YOE - is it a waste of time for me to apply to these roles? My only concern is comp range
For those who survived layoffs and crises before, what things and actions made a difference? How'd you come out stronger? Did you pivot into something new entirely?
My dad works for the state and he currently has 7 months of accrued vacation and 10 months of sick time....we’re doing it wrong guys
I think I'm mentally checking out of work. All the pursuits I was leading (and which were building my case for promotion to manager) are falling through either because of clients having put everything on hold or because the requirements necessitating the work are being waived... my jaw has been locked now for 2 days 😬
home office is in NY and have a client at jersey city (hudson county) which is the same MSA. was told i need an amendment..did i miss anything here?
I was confident that my late-stage interview with Uber went well - just received a rejection email. Perhaps I'm rationalizing, but is it safe to chalk this up as a good miss given the volatility of their business?
Did anyone start contributing to a 529 account in their mid 20s? Even if they’re single w/o kids (but obviously expecting to have kids in the future)? I like the tax benefits and have some income I can allot to that after my current investments/savings/needs and wants. Just not sure if there are other things I should be considering…
Started about 8 months ago from another firm but already interviewing for industry roles. Is it worth sticking it out for a few more months? For more context, I have about 5 years exp, all consulting
Received an offer at 25% above my current salary. What are the chances that I’ll give notice and receive an out of cycle pay increase to keep me where I am? Does that ever happen?
Rejected by 2 exit ops after on-sites where 2 of 3 recruiters sent a personal message/email saying something like "you seem great/qualified but not the right fit". One said "the HM said you seem really bright and would hire asap if we were looking for a generalist". Another said "this isn't about weakness or lack of experience, just questions on fit". Do recruiters say this to a lot of people or is this genuine? Trying to gauge whether my interview performance is at least solid.
What's the average end of year bonus at PwC?
I found this article and wondered what people here thought about it. It deals with teacher licensing tests. Among other things, it presents the case for a positive correlation between performance on a licensing test and performance in the classroom. It also argues there is an outsized number of teachers (over 50%) that don’t pass the licensing test on the first try. Any newer teachers out there who can weigh in on their teacher prep program and the licensing test experience? https://www.nctq.org/publications/Driven-by-Data:-Using-Licensure-Tests-to-Build-a-Strong,-Diverse-Teacher-Workforce/
Anybody had luck getting Ovidrel covered through BCBS and CVS Specialty pharmacy? CVS Specialty is quoting $405 even with the BCBS insurance and a local specialty pharmacy is $200 out of pocket. Wondering if I’m doing something wrong here.
Which Big 4 has handled Layoff, Bonus, Hikes etc during Pandemic ( From March of this year till date). Also which Big 4 would be good Firm to join in future ? I am from Tech Consulting services , please vote. 1. Pwc 2. EY 3. KPMG 4. Deloitte
PE is notorious for being difficult to get into unless you’re coming from IB. However, there are success stories for consultants breaking into PE even without an MBA. Which got me thinking, how difficult would it be for a healthcare management consultant to land a spot at a healthcare-focused PE firm?
