Soooo turns out vaccines don’t protect you from long COVID. Do we still wanna go back to the office and risk that? I don’t.

Agree. We’ve proven that we can all get the job done remotely. I don’t want to risk my health just to be face to face with my team. It’s not that I wouldn’t like to go back, just doesn’t seem worth the risk.

With statistical evidence in hand, I also account for personal assessment of risk (and I guess, reward). Personally, there is nothing that is so fulfilling about daily in-person work that it’s worth the possible risk of Covid, let alone the non-zero risk of long haul Covid. I generally find _some_ in-person work enjoyable, but it would have to depend on how it’s handled.

True; I’m fortunate in that although I live in a small studio with my partner, it’s a happy home I like working out of.

I’m fine with remote work, but before we sound the alarm - did you read the study or just the headline? Two-thirds had mild symptoms; the rest had none at all. Six weeks after their diagnosis, 19% reported they still had at least one symptom: loss of smell, cough, fatigue, weakness, difficulty breathing, or muscle pain. Nine employees – 23% – weren't healthy enough to return to work after 10 days of required quarantine. One hadn't gone back after six weeks. So 19% of 3% had long COVID symptoms... It's a small portion of a small portion. The study shows lower antibodies were associated with breakthrough infection, and they’re apparently working on a booster shot. Let’s also remember these healthcare workers are subjected exponentially more - except in Florida. That place is a damn ward.

Of the 1,497 people, 39 (3%...well 2.6%) got infected. 19% of the 3% infected reported long Covid

The fact is, vaccines protect us to a great extent, but if we never get enough people vaccinated, the virus will keep thriving, and mutating, and the vaccine will be less effective. So - sure, I feel less great about going back to the office and know I need to mask up again, but I mainly I’m just mad at those choosing to go unvaccinated .

Wait, did you actually read this article? And yes, I still want to go back to the office part time.
