In my opinion, I don’t think a year is going to make that much of a difference if you have a strong egg reserve. If you don’t, then I could see considering freezing your eggs. It’s just a lot to go through if you don’t need to.
I think my concern is I got a LEEP procedure and was informed if I have another it could cause pregnancy issues
Use the ey fertility benefits. You get 25k lifetime limit. Please look into this before you start paying out of pocket
Wow thanks was not aware
I'm also 37, have been trying for six months (well not l.this month bc I just a a LEEP). I'd say start trying now. I don't think worth it to freeze eggs now, just use them. Or maybe do both.
If you get pregnant right away that would be awesome!
Thanks only thing is I’m looking to have kids next year
IVF is a lengthy, hard, expensive process that does not guarantee a baby. Have you tried to get pregnant naturally? Do you have a reason to think you can’t? Because that would be the better first step. the challenges associated with age (egg quality) aren’t solved by IVF. You say you want to have a baby next year, so like in 12 months? 3-6 months of trying and 10 months of pregnancy would mean you would want to start ASAP and if I unsuccessful after 6 months, you could see an RE to understand your options. But there are a lot of steps you could take before IVF and if your healthy, with normal cycles, no reason to assume you won’t get pregnant naturally. I also recommend reading It Starts with an Egg for good advice on optimizing egg quality.

Is egg freezing offered as a benefit by your employer or are you paying out of pocket?
Have you done any baseline fertility testing to know how your ovarian reserves look?
Any underlying issues like PCOS or thyroid?
There’s a lot to consider... it’s hard on your body, eggs don’t freeze as well as embryos at many clinics still, quantity of eggs isn’t an indicator of quality (you need to fertilize and see that they grow embryos for a few days to get evidence of quality), lots of factors influence ovarian production.
It’s surely worth talking to your OBGyN to get baseline testing or to get connected to a fertility clinic for evaluation. Lots of clinics websites will give you estimates on the number of eggs you need - search around and see wheat they say. My quick finds for your age are around 20 eggs needed for a live birth.
Anecdotally I’ve heard that it’s ideal to freeze half eggs and half embryos. Embryos have a higher success rate, but if your relationship doesn’t work out it’s helpful to have a reserve of just your unfertilized eggs (to use with future partner or donor sperm down the line). In terms of cycles, the more the merrier! If you can get two retrievals (or at least 1.5 funded through work) will be valuable. There will be a quarterly cost for egg storage until you use them (a few hundred a quarter).
