Here are my thoughts:

Survey sites - you need PATIENCE. At 50p a survey it's going to take a while to get that £50 YouGov cheque. Yes, there are £5 surveys but not many. Is this really worth your time? (I still do this but not seriously).

Mystery shopping - need to be done in set times so not good for lawyers who need to drop everything. Also you don't get £££, just free or discounted unhealthy food. (I gave up on this when qualified, but was good when a student)

Deliveroo - No bones to pick but you need proof of proper insurance. (Info from a friend).

Starting your own blog to earn from affiliate links - Good luck finding time to generate regular content on multiple platforms. And I will find out out if you (imaginary trainee) are blogging during the working day when I asked you to do something for me urgently!!!

Have a question to make sure this is not "tax evasion"

I made some money in crypto that I want to give to my family -- not withdrawing anything for myself, going to continue to hold.

If I withdraw some profits to give my fam , I'll obviously pay at my tax rate (which is high). Is it better and fine to just directly transfer the crypto to them and they can sell it ? (I know there's a 15k gift tax)

Would appreciate advice -- thanks!

Any tips for a partner track associate trying to balance an older partner who has a "my way or the highway" personality and support staff who are human and don't do well with partner's personality? In less than two years we have been through 3 legal secretaries and feel like our current one is one month in and already over it. I love my firm but worry we are getting a bad reputation by burning through support staff. Anyone had success in dealing with this?

I’m an associate at a boutique firm making under market with 1950 hours req. While I absolutely love the people I work with, and I can handle the hour requirement, the work I actually do is just not my cup of tea (abt 80% insurance defense). I’m hoping to lateral to a bigger firm with lockstep or close to lockstep comp and generally more resources/better mentorship opportunities in the business lit./commercial lit. space. Any tips for going about successfully making the switch?

Can I export a list with all emails I sent for the month? I would like to use it to compare to my billed time to make sure I don’t miss anything. Usually I go through my sent inbox but it has so much extra info so it’s not a quick scan. Plus outlook does weird things sometimes like combines conversations so I only see most recent sent item in that convo. Alternatively, do you have a good way confirming you caught all of your email time?

Any attorneys here with ADHD/ADD? I was recently diagnosed ADHD, but it was clear I had it my whole life. It did not materially hinder me until law school, and now it’s pretty debilitating as an associate. Since I have been medicated, some executive functioning has been better but it’s really hit or miss. Anyone have any success stories? Would in-house be easier to manage as there is less executive functioning (ie no timekeeping and billing)? I appreciate any response in advance. Thanks!

Mexican attorney here - I am currently researching LLM programs (specifically M&A) and somehow paying USD$200K to study in the US doesn’t seem too appealing.

I hold a Spanish passport which may help with tuition fees in European Universities - do you recommend any European LLM programs or should I just bite the bullet and ask for a loan and pay the USD$150 - 200K?

Mentioning the programs is greatly appreciated.

Motions
I work in a midsize firm and we have the basic subscription to westlaw, which doesn’t include the ability to see filed briefs, motions, etc without incurring additional costs. I’m wondering if there is a service in the NJ/PA area that gives you access to previously filed motions and briefs? So if I’m drafting a summary judgment I could search the service and find a similar one. If this doesn’t exist.. I think I found the next million dollar idea lol
