I don’t know about the next week and look at you!! Just go with the flow. If you want it now, go for it
In 10-15 years we would be fighting for survival not MBB :P
I doubt you are right there. Partner rates at MBB aren't any higher than VP rates at FANG. And I suspect the salaries for the two are in the same ballpark. Moreover, there's a difference in lifestyle.
The biggest difference is that there's a soft ceiling for partner salaries. But you can make absurd amounts in FANG with your stock grants.
All speculation here of course. I make none of these salaries.
How many years after MBA do you make Partner? It’s not a given. All of my directors have been senior directors in their early to mid forties
Is salary really purely your single variable? Clearing up to half a mil in a 10-6, with free gourmet food, a gym and showers in your building, staff events, the best health insurance
Or half a mil or a little more packing Sunday night to wake up at 4am for a flight to tell an incorrect client he’s right and be away from home, be responsible for selling more work or you’re done, on the phone and plugged into meetings all day even at night, have Saturday off and Sunday afternoon till you pack Sunday night to do it all again.
Use your brain
I meant what would yield more $ after 10-15 years. I would guess MBB since you’d prob hit partner after that many yrs and I feel like FAANG would cap out unless you were to pass the VP level which I think averages 4-500 a yr (less than most mbb partners). Someone correct me here if I’m wrong but I feel like Faang would pay more initially but then after 5-7 yrs mbb would definitely pay more.
Also is money your only driving factor in life decisions? How do you know you can even land MBB or FAANG?
You will not go wrong either ways. Close your eyes and blindly choose 1.
You make 400 as a L7. 6-700 as director, 1M for senior director, and god knows how much at VP.
Most MBAs join as 4 ($200k) or 5 ($250k)
G1, how many years after MBA do you hit L7, Director, VP etc?
I’ve seen L7s in their mid 30s
G1 are the numbers you gave only for base? Also, I thought it’s quite rare to move past the director level at FAANG since there’s only a limited number of positions at those levels? Or did I hear wrong? How long does it usually take between levels on average?
Numbers are TC. Years between levels vary
10-15 years after MBA you should be retiring
Pwc1 are you saying that’s the norm or are you saying if someone joined either of those two options? I feel like many people work longer than 10-15 yrs after their mba.
Acc1 there’s pros and cons to both and looks like you’re only looking at the pros of faang. Benefits are fairly similar between Faang and mbb and possibly slightly better at mbb. You can prob save more at mbb though with not having to pay rent in the most expensive city in the US and you can be based virtually anywhere in the US. You also get all your meals paid for during the week. You also rack up miles and hotel pts that on avg equate to roughly 8-10k a yr for personal spend. Yes, the hours are much better at FAANG and would be the main appeal vs mbb
