Speaking with a Microsoft HM next week about a leadership role (L65 / L66 ?) and would like to understand what qualities they look for from their managing PM leaders? Could someone offer some insights? I have SOME of the product domain experience they’re seeking… so I was a little surprised the HM still wanted to speak.

Don't sell yourself short! It's rare that a candidate has every skill that they're looking for. There must be something about you and/or your resume that has them intrigued. Be yourself and knock 'em dead!

Agree with Product Lead 1. Good management takes much more than just product domain experience. Clearly you're qualified in plenty of other ways and they would not waste their time interviewing you if that wasn't true. Just speak with confidence and don't doubt yourself.

It’s as a cash application specialist. This positions duties were held by 3 people and is now combined into 1 role.

My company closed weeks before the pandemic hit, making it virtually impossible for me to find a job since last March. I’ve been sending dozens of resumes out, most places haven’t responded. I’m beyond frustrated and wonder if I need to consider a career change? How long do I wait? I’ve got 20+ years in advertising and it’s all I know.

Working as a Sr product analyst and project manager (functionally, not a PMP) for a digital health platform for two years. Also have experience as a BA for the same agency and a short stint with a blockchain healthcare start-up.

I seem to be having trouble even getting interviews for tech product roles. Are companies looking for people with more years experience? I also don't have hard CS skills other than SQL/R; is this an area should be focusing on?

Are they idealistic in nature, or should they be rooted in the work that you’re going to embark on? I just took over a SAAS product where I own P&L with 800 B2B clients with so much customization that it feels like 800 versions of the product. The product was acquired and there are a ton of process improvements needed, tribal knowledge and start up mentality. I have a PO who does the day to day work with the devs, but otherwise it’s just me. I’ve been a PM for 15 years and never felt so understaffed. I’d like to hear the level of responsibility you each have and how your team is structured.
