Specialists, what is your speciality and what % of your work is transactional deal support work? What is the hardest document/work product you work on outside of deal support?

I’m an IP specialist. I probably do 50/50 between deal support and stand-alone agreements. The most complicated agreement I work on is probably a collaboration agreement for a pharma product since it involves a lot of both legal and technical concepts.

like

Tax, I would say 75% is transactional support, another 20% litigation/IRS appeals, 5% annual reporting or the like. Not including my non-billable work in here.

So I just had 2 tables fight in a restaurant. Table A coughed and table B said oh covid and laughed. Happens that table A is Asian and table B is white.
Table A assumed the joke is because they are Asian and table B says no, everyone got covid not just Asians it’s just a bad joke; who is right?
Table A escalated to a fight and had to be both separated and asked to leave. Who is right?

Hello Everyone,

I am working since last 8.5 years. But my prosperous growth is very average. To overcome that i also completed my MBA ans BA course but it's just another piece of paper in my case right now. My basic Education is Electrical Engineering and i work with an OEM. Starting was a struggling phase, did't get the very good start. Thought of changing domain too but always felt short of opportunities. Trying outside India but no luck there too. I want to be into management, suggestions?

2017 grad so technically a 4th year. Lateraled to a CRE boutique in NYC that’s a major player. Learned quickly that my experience/knowledge/organization is not up to par (was a COG in the machine at prior firm). Just had EOY review and, though positive sounding, they’re dropping me to a 3rd year to ensure I’m not billing as a 4th year and able to do the work to learn/get up to par. I feel pretty okay about it (market salary deduction notwithstanding), but want to make sure I’m not being naive.

In terms of career, would you rather be a big fish in a small pond with lower pay (with still a ~2000 hour requirement) or a small fish in a big pond with market pay and market expectations? Considering a lateral move to NY, and am curious if I’m going to regret it.

2012 Sr Associate. Left my firm in February after being recruited by a partner I used to work for, and it turns out I’m not very happy. Difficult people, terrible schedule and ruined vacations so far. A partner at my old firm in another group has asked if I would come back to work for just him. I liked working for him, we have great rapport and I could do permanent WFH since he is in another city. I don’t want to burn bridges, would this be a bad idea? Or an easy decision?

So if you pass the MPRE with flying colors that allegedly measures “ethical competence” you’re likely not a danger to the public, but if you fail the bar exam that allegedly measures and protects the public from malpractice you’re a danger to the public? I had a big laugh today. 😂
