Interesting article in American lawyer about returning to the office. Funny quotes…
“Another said they sensed a “shift in commitment at all levels in the firm.”
“In the past ‘life’ was organized around work with clients being the center of our focus. Now colleagues seem to think that work can be organized around life whether that is walking the dog, picking up from nursery or isolating because of upcoming holidays. The business of law and serving the clients has lost priority.”
Anyone has info about Publicis Sapient coding round for senior QA engineer? What kind of questions i can expect? Thanks

Any good books or articles worth reading on product marketing and analytics? I come from more of a technical and general product management background, so I personally feel like I lack on the marketing side. Like Search engine optimization, etc. Thank you.
A few questions:
1. When a company makes an offer to a remote candidate should they consider the cost of living where the remote candiadate lives?
2. As a BDR with 6 months experience, living in Chicago, with 10+ experience in the working world (former teacher), getting an offer from a small health tech company (20 employees) what can I expect OTE to be?

I’ve been seeing a lot of new job posts from people and I was wondering if there’s anything new that you guys have been asking for when signing on. (Or is it pretty much the same usual demands.)
As someone who is more reserved, not verbose/verbal, more of an observer and writer —
which teams/departments should one look at for designer roles within product/ux that doesn't have client presentation/leading client relationship responsibilities?
Are there any? Do those exist?
Anybody have any general advice for the markets right now? Any specific areas you think to invest in, or wait a few weeks/months for the inevitable bottom to hit.
I'm struggling to lose the ten pounds I need to fit into my clothes and feel good about my body. I'm 5'5 and 145. Ive put on around 7-8 pounds since October. I'm recovered from an eating disorder (6 years now) and have completely stopped drinking alcohol (since December) as I was definitely using that to cope, and I feel good about that. I'm proud of not drinking and not using alcohol but I struggle with chowing on chocolate/ carbs as a result. I excercise at least 4x week running (cont'd)
Is anyone's employer or team looking to hire a career-pivotting rockstar for PM or project coordination? I am trying to pivot careers and get my foot in the door at a large firm full of opportunities. I have worked at a charity for 5 years and contributed to doubling their year-to-year total revenue. Anyone that has worked with charities may understand that is a good glimpse into my resilience and work ethic 🥴
Is it better to register as DBA or LLC for someone starting a side hustle that may hopefully turn to a small business?

Any advice on transitioning out of law to anything else that pays around the same (180+)? I’m 3 years out of law school. 1.5 at a small law firm and 1.5 big law. M&A practice group. Too soon to go in house? I hate billable hours and have no life working 2100 hours a year.
Other than having a gap on your resume, why is it bad to leave a job without another one lined up? Will hiring companies assume you got fired?
How do you track your time spent reading and responding to emails? I don’t want to run a timer each time I open outlook, but I feel like I’m losing hours of billable time every day to one-off emails that I would never individually bill for.
Do you bill for every email you send to a client or only substantive emails? I still struggle with this, so I wanted to get the thoughts of others.
I am interested in moving to another state and realized that this state has one of the most restrictive reciprocity rules in the country. I've passed multiple bar exams. However, I won't get any credit for time I worked in CA because CA isn't reciprocal. I swore I'd never take another bar after taking CA - and now I have to take another exam if we move. I worked in big law in CA for two years and get no credit! Yet the exam has been waived for new grads for COVID. It sure limits our move.
Tips for returning to work post-sickness? Whole family has been juggling RSV, flu, and Covid for awhile and I’m trying to get back to work and feel a lot of anxiety about it. I lateraled a few months ago, so I’m still on a high learning curve and don’t know the best way to approach getting back into a rhythm. I WFH, fwiw, but haven’t clocked in for almost a week due to all the illness, hospital and urgent care visits, etc.
M&A Hours Check. What’s your year end target looking like? Think about 80 percent of the firm’s group is not going to hit hours. Not sure how sustainable this is. Definitely have great leadership that are swallowing the brunt of it, but I’m curious if any survivors of 08 ever had a really bad hours year and still survived. Obviously M&A takes the brunt during these times, but are firms thinking that they want to be poised for when things return back to normal or are they about to let the ball go
I am out in LA. And west coasters here?
Any exception to hearsay rules to admit testimony of a decesed plaintiff where we did not have a chance to cross-examine? I know it can’t come in but wondering if any exceptions exist? Corroboration of a co-witness testimony? Any thoughts- thanks! (NY)

Anyone here go from BigLaw to a non-profit public interest/impact litigation/ACLU-type org? Did you use a recruiter, or just wait for a job to pop up on their website/Indeed/etc.? Do recruiters even exist in this space? Thanks very much in advance.

Tax lawyers: what do you guys actually do?
Ugh. Today I had a tough day at the office (it’s closed but you can go if you want to, very few people are there). A partner destroyed me for being “greedy” - I asked about our practice group’s finances/case intake in the past few months). As I was leaving the office, I saw him leave the garage in a brand new Porsche 911 (I know it’s brand new because he did not have this car before).
How do you properly vet a law firm? I feel the associates I speak with talk up the firm and aren’t always candid.
Thinking about my current options: Would you rather be a “service partner” at a big firm, or a partner with your own book at a small firm? Why?

Should I send a Christmas gift to my partner? I’ve done cards in the past but. I was a poorly paid intern back then.
Just started my first job at a mid size firm. Still awaiting bar results. The firm practices general civil lit - mainly defense (ID, prem liability, labor law, tort defense etc.) but some partners do plaintiff’s work too. So far they’ve had me working mainly on ID cases. I never knew people hate ID so much until I came on this app. Is it really that bad? Pay isn’t great but expecting a bump upon admission. Advice ?

I’m about 30 minutes east of San Francisco. I keep leaving but keep coming back. 30 minutes to the beach. 2.5 hours to Tahoe. 3.5 hours to the desert. 4 hours to Oregon. 4 hours to LA. It’s just so convenient AND the weather is consistently amazing. But, $$$$$$$.
