Deloitte question. I have always gotten a raise each year, the only question I ask is how much of a raise do I get. But I’m hearing from former Deloitte folks, it is naive to expect annual raises each year however small/big they are? And how does this play in Deloitte consulting vs advisory? Do one tend to withhold annual raises in base salary over the other, or is this just a deloitte culture thing? Looking at exit opportunities all over. So lmk! I’d Rather get a small raise than none at all.
Any thoughts on Orrick LA culture?

WLB at T-Mobile probably much better. I’d weigh other things though like long term goals, commute, etc since the comp is pretty similar

To be honest I’ve stopped giving referrals cause I haven’t had any success here with them. Our referral process sucks. I personally just cold applied when I interviewed
Interesting that this is your dilemma -- as it was similar to mine earlier this year.
The initial money at Amazon can be a powerful draw. The culture and ethical nature of T-Mobile can be a draw.
For me one of the most important considerations was the commute/location of the companies.
As for compensation, run the numbers and the vesting schedule. T-mobile's base can be considerably higher, but their RSUs are fixed dollar amounts (not shares) with a three year schedule. They also have a generous ESPP (3 month look-back with a 15% discount). Amazons total comp include shares, not dollar value. So with their stock value continuing to go up, employees have enjoyed significantly higher returns than expected -- though I know more than one person who became disappointed when they got a "raise" only to have a lower comp target.
Work-like balance is another thing. Do you research on this and see what suits you. My best friend is coming over for dinner on Friday but it's bringing his laptop because he's on call (SDM) constantly. He's taking calls at 3am and working until 7pm regularly. My T-Mobile friends only have meetings scheduled between 8am and 3pm...

Amzn my friend.
TMUS probably has better WLB. TC is more important but personally I think you’re stuck between two solid choices. Consider which career path you want to take and which industry you want to be in.
Personally I like amazon more but in a few years when I want to have more time for family maybe TMUS would be the better choice for me. See what works better for the life you want to lead.
I’m a 2Y ASC with 7 yoe.
This is a quintessential no-brainer. Go to a 3rd tier telco or go to the biggest/best cloud vendor and innovative technology companies on the plant, whose stock seems to have no boundaries in how far it will climb? What am I missing?

Surprised about what? I wasn't even trying to be snarky lol
TMUS is ex MBB so way of work is more similar. Lots of change going on with the acquisition both good and bad.
AMZN has a salary cap so depends if you’re fine grinding out for the RSUs with more upside.
Two distinct cultures go with the one that fits better IMO
Amazon WLB and vesting schedule isn’t great. Any concern?
I'm new to Tmobile finance myself. Can anyone explain what the pay bands mean? Who is an L07 vs. an L12 etc.?
I don't have insight into the compensation bands of the different levels, but I can give you an idea of some of the types of jobs within them.
They go from L1 (CEO), down:
- L1 - L5 SVP, CIO, EVP, VP
- L6 Director, Senior Director
- L7 Sr Manager, Manager, Principal Technical Product Manager, Senior Technical Product Manager
- L8 Technical Product Manager

- L10 and below include everyone else (customer care, interns, etc.)
