McKinsey & Company McKinsey & Company been working here one year and received pretty positive feedback. Given the expectation for people of my tenure to transition to EM in a year or so, I can’t see myself staying due to the WLB as an EM. I’m 35 and have 2 young kids. Can it even be realistically done? Would love to stay but I don’t see a balance which would keep my family happy. What options do I have from there?

Same situation... would probably say I can't take on additional work but the promotion thing stops me. Definitely feel taken advantage of
@EY1 decisions made in June/July, will know August/early September what the result is. It's justtttttt long enough away for me to really not want to stay up until 11 PM at night for the next 6 months lol
Yeah but decisions are made. Pump the brakes a bit after June July and full on "no fucking more of this shit" shortly after
^100% you just got promoted. You have some time to buy and regardless if you perform at 110% they will knock you down because "first year as new role". So fuck it. Get the promo and say no or start drawing the line in the sand. If they freak out take the promo elsewhere.
@D1 very true. Simple but to the point. Let's them know I want to help but really puts the ball in their court to advise on how I can be successful. Fear is that they'll just say "do it all". But worth a discussion...
@PwC1 right I KNOW they'll bring up how in my new role I'd be expected to preform multiple tasks - which is BS bc right now I'm already preforming above and beyond at that level.
When's your year end?
@EY1 not a bad idea. God I can't wait to have this just be over with!!
Won't it be worse after promotion?
@PwC2 theoretically yes, but at least then I won't feel guilty for saying no as opposed to before it might cost me the promotion
Sack it up. We all did it
