If you're new to the team and the senior has been the boots on the ground before, then yes this is normal cadence. It'll take a while to get some respect/authority, but you can help hasten this by being your own advocate and asking your senior to throw more at you. Make your senior your best friend, you'll be fine.
Ask the Sr to start copying you on emails out... as simple as that... tell him that you need to be copied for career development reasons....if the Sr. still does not copy you...he is insecure....
Good advice in this thread but be careful what you wish for ;). I'm a summer new hire and get CC'd on everything by the director and partner. One flys in from New York so I get emails from 4:30am-8pm. You're going to just want to hide
To do work from them directly. Always through the Senior. Is it normal to feel this way? My last project I really got to step up and feel valued. Was told I was operating at level of senior/manager and was communicating directly with managers and senior managers.
Make sure to reach out to managers and sr. managers and ask what else you can do to add value. Offer to take them out for lunch or to grab a beer so that you can pick their brains. Don't let one guy control your story.
^ It's a good problem to have....👍
Omg op same issue with my project. Is this an EY thing?
Yeah also as someone who's been in this position - the most important piece of advice I think you can get is not to overthink it or get too caught up in it. A lot of the time people simply just don't think and you shouldn't take offense to that, it's just thoughtlessness and once you've been there a little more you'll become a more natural thought. Keep it up and keep your chin up! 😊
Just ask your supervisor if there are any tasks that you can help him/her with. Tell him you want to learn about the tasks and responsibilities at their level.
