Start to feel that one will never get rich by working / exchanging time for resources (one can get to upper middle class tho by choose the right career path & work hard). Need to own resources to be rich.

Only way to get really rich is to start something, a business, an investment fund etc. And experience helps to get there…

You are right, one can be well off in working and exchanging time, but never F U rich. Side hustle may be good to income but again, unless it scales, you won’t be rich rich

This is exactly why people who have never had a winning lottery ticket still buy them every week. Why lottery ticket sales still do well during recessions. And why things like crypto, where the greatest use case is gambling, will stick around. Upper middle class is great and something to be thankful for, but people will always reach for uber wealthy status.

Better late than never to realize that

My husband never reads and wants to start reading as a new hobby. What is a good book that you would recommend for a 40 year old man? Not self help books, but maybe something with action. I think he would like the Bourne series, but he saw all the movies so he's not interested, but something similar.

For my 30th birthday next year I’m torn between buying a nice watch, or investing some fine art. In terms of the watch, I was thinking along the lines of a Cartier Roadster Chronograph, Cartier Tank (vintage), a vintage Tudor Submariner, or a vintage Rolex Datejust. What do you think? Fine art or one of the watches I mentioned?

Hi guys, just want to drop some gems about choosing a therapist. I’ve had seven. Please make sure you focus on what it is you want to gain from therapy, how engaging you want your therapist to be, their experience in treating someone with your background. I personally like empathy and honesty. In the past I had a therapist who I felt was reading from CBT/DSM text book. I’ve also had one who laughed at me and one who was very cold. Continue ⬇️

Newbie question here. From what I’ve read and learned people typically take two FIRE approaches: 1. REI and 2. Index funds. First, am I missing anything else? Second, if you did the index fund version, and you retire at say 30-35, how do you use that money? Isn’t it locked in until 59 1/2?

Question time! Two part. 1) What dating sites or apps are you on and 2) do you feel like it’s been particularly tough dating in your 30s/40s during COVID, assuming that we probably date (on average) more seriously than 20s peeps? I personally have only been on one date! A zoom one last week.

Will not need to live in it and interested in air bnb rentals (possibly after refinancing). Online air bnb calculators suggest 70-80% occupancy rates in the area with avg daily rate > $200.
