Why do Partners move from one Big4 to another?
Most partners can’t be bothered to talk smack about other companies. It all comes across as asinine.
If you want to talk smack, do what normal people do and follow a sport
Are you ready for some truth?
Been at Strategy firms and other Big 4. The best people are as good as the best in both groups. The second tier isn’t as good talent-wise as the strat firms, but as good as the other Big 4.
The culture is the best of the places I’ve worked. One could argue that makes us less edgy than those who are more go for the throat competitive, but I’ll take fourth of the Big 4 with a smaller asshole percentage every single day. Life’s too short, and I have more business than I can cover, so I’m perfectly happy.
It’s far from perfect, and I find lots of things to be annoyed about, but having been around the block several times, I’m realistic about what this profession is about.
Unlike the immature kids on the bowl MD1 referenced. I don’t read it anymore, as there is only so much complaining from average performers about not getting a 20% bonus I can take.
But take her for a ride. If you don’t like it, I’m pretty sure there are lots of alternatives for a talented person like yourself. Remember, however, that there is some value in being the last man or woman standing when the knuckleheads leave.
For some reason this won’t let me edit the autocorrects.

If you *don’t* like it...
Yep. It’s a pretty juvenile thing to do. Often the province of young male associates. There is nothing inherently “wrong” with KPMG compared to its peers.
I’m glad to hear that. I just came back into the consulting bowl after finishing B school and i remember a couple years ago people talked well about KPMG. I remember seeing a thread of people saying it was the best place to work in the big four. Quite a change since then
