Unless you have to come back, don’t. Save your money. Winter is going to suck with no outdoor activities available.

Don’t move to NYC now. You won’t be experiencing anything but cold weather, train delays, closed bars and restaurants, no Broadway, and social distancing. Stay home. Save 2-3x more than you were planning to save and in a year or so slap a down payment down on a condo—if you still really want to move.

Save your money. Move to NYC mid 2021. There’s legit nothing to do here unless you already have a solid group of friends. This winter is going to suck without indoor dining.

Hold out until there is more certainty where things are headed. Also agree with the above that winter will suck being in an apartment and having nowhere to go.

You’ll blow through about a quarter of your savings ($10k+) just with renting a first place (first, last, broker, additional month fee, plus commission). Assuming you can negotiate some or all of that (especially broker fee) given covid, but know that $45k savings may feel cushy, but won’t last long.

Same dilemma! I’m waiting to move until I know more, the savings are incredible. If I go too insane with my parents I’m going to do a long term Airbnb for like a month so I can get a change of scenery but still save more money than I would with nyc rent

Hold out and save that money, you're still young

I would just hold out. The deals will get better and we may have a better pulse on where things are headed around December. Winter is going to suck here though, so unless there is some insanely compelling reason and deal then don’t bother.

Yeah - already when it rains you see the restaurants empty. Can only imagine how empty stuff will be when it’s also cold outside

How many months have you been living rent free ? 10-15k savings is a lot probably 7 months of rent.

Rent free since July 1 (no income in July though)
