How do you all *actually* set boundaries at work, especially during busy season? There’s a lot of advice out there about making appointments for any personal plans (workouts, dinner, etc.) and treating them as you would work appointments, but then you get the pings “hey we just got comments from the partner on XYZ, can you address them asap?” And pushing back on that for other stuff that’s not an emergency would get frowned upon. I feel like I’m running myself ragged - senior if that’s helpful

How many years is optimal to work in consulting before exiting to industry? Been in consulting since undergrad (~1 year). Content enough with my job to stay for a few years or more if that’s what opens the most doors for me, but I’m interesting in exiting as soon as I can to a role with less hours but seniority / upward mobility (willing to compromise short-term comp).

Has anyone here pivoted form consulting into a data visualization/analyst role either at another consulting firm or industry? How was that experience? My current practice doesn’t really help me get this experience and looking to start somewhere.

How do you get noticed by recruiters with new opportunities? I just turned on the open to opportunities view for recruiters and have been updating my profile with a social media advisor.

Interviewed for a senior analyst position, given salary and equity upfront, and was told I was obvious candidate and qualified.

Got offer but HR apparently thinks since role requires 4 YOE, I don't qualify for senior position and thus the salary and equity bands are ~10% less.

Is this red flag? Or is this typical HR bullshit I should respect? How hard is it for a mid size company to make exceptions, or am I being given the runaround?
