I am honestly so depressed, a little about me: Im 26 and have a pretty decent job (make almost 100k), but I feel very low. I barely have friends, and never have had a gf. I have my apartment but I feel alone.I tried going on dating apps and got multiple dates but they didn’t go anywhere. I look fine but struggle with social anxiety and tbh I’ve never even done anything sexual before. I feel really lonely and it’s starting to become tough. Does anyone have any advice on how to feel better?
I told my employer I have a standing medical appointment every week and will be unavailable between X-X times but will come in early and stay later other days to make up for the missed time. They were totally cool with this! Your health and your connection with your current therapist are important and in the grand scheme of the week bring gone for one hour every other week isn’t a lot of time—two hours a month! That’s nothing
^Co-sign. My teams have always been cool with it. Also remember it really is no different from having to leave early/take an hour off for other things like child/eldercare, other appointments, etc.; I think there is still this stigma around therapy but we need to remember it is like any other kind of healthcare. Also, if you feel like you sometimes can’t take over an hour, see if your therapist is flexible about meeting over the phone or just shortening to 45 minutes for a session here or there. I have done this a few times over the last year. Good luck & congrats on the new gig ☺️
Just say that every other Tuesday I have a standing appointment and have to be gone for an hour and fifteenish minutes? Or do I need to find a new therapist/see if she has after work appointments
Probably, yes. But have you accepted? I typically raise this question post-offer but prior to accepting and ensure that the answer is in writing.
I’d start looking but just bring it up on a need to know basis. If it becomes a problem then you have a back up therapist ready. You don’t know how accepting your knew team will be. IMO over an hour is asking a lot from a new employer and your team. My last job we could take long lunch breaks so I can see how you could luck out.
