Starting a new project on Monday and will travel from ewr to Chicago. I’m extremely scared of getting infected with the coronavirus since I’m alone in the country. How are you guys dealing with this?

By not worrying about extremely improbable events

OP, A1’s response was more helpful than you think. You’re probably more likely to die in a wreck on the way to the airport

The plane you travel in could crash, u could be hit fatally while crossing the street, you could suddenly get cancer due to a faulty gene... The possibilities are endless. Normal flu killed a few hundred last year in the US if I'm not mistaken. If you allow yourself to be troubled by all this, then you won't be able to live.

add some lsd tabs in the mix. i call it rainbow cocktail.

Do the same stuff you would if you were trying to avoid any other illness. Avoid close contact with sick people, wash your hands before eating and touching your face, make sure you get enough sleep, etc.

You’re fine- the 60 year old couple are hospitalized in the suburbs not actually in Chicago...

They are in a far west suburb of Chicago in quarantine.

Take your vitamin C to protect from seasonal stuff. Build your immunity.

12,000 cases in Wuhan. Ok but there are 11 million people who live there, and people who did die were apparently not in the best health to begin with. As one tobacco exec once famously said, “What are we to do? Stop living?”

I would like to add that people can only report confirmed cases if you have enough test kits to confirm the cases.... Factories are cranking as many tests kits as they can but that and #staff is a bottleneck

Why are you afraid of getting coronavirus because you’re alone in the country? Would your odds be lower if you were with a friend?

Being alone in the country means nobody to help you when you recover or take care of you

By being logical, rational, and not ignorant. It’s also simple a new version of the flu essentially, so I would take a few sick days worst case scenario. Go take a look in the mirror and shame yourself then get on the plane and move on with life.

The weak will die off. Human race will become stronger. But in all seriousness, carry around hand sanitizer, stay away from sick people, wear that mask if you must.

Just worry about the flu instead!

To add what KPMG 1 was saying, if people around you are coughing, maybe try covering your face as well?
