Starting as a junior associate in M&A at a Big Law firm in a few weeks. Any resource recommendations or overall advice to help with the learning curve and getting acclimated?

Counseling and a therapist. Welcome to hell

Relax. You'll spend your next few years barely having time to think about anything beside work. Rest for now. You'll learn on the job

Ditto A1. Rest up and come in enthusiastic. It’s been a rough 14 months for M&A teams, and we’d really appreciate a jolt of enthusiasm. Might be worthwhile to reach out to a junior or midlevel in the group (if you’re friends with them) to just say hi and say you’re excited to start. Good to identify a buddy to ping with silly questions.

Try to get squared away on real life stuff if you aren’t already (i.e.: current with dentist, everything is on auto pay, you have a few pre-prepared meal plans you like and can start ordering once you are super busy). I would also get a good exercise and/or yoga routine going. It’s very easy to start skipping self care once deals are going.

Grocery delivery, cleaning service, cleaners that pick up and drop off at home - and keep in mind that this job CAN just be a means to an end - pay off loans, get a nest egg going, etc - and always keep your eye open for the next opportunity

If you're inclined to cut the learning curve, Working With Contracts is a good primer.

I am a first year college hire... I have 25k in a high yield savings account and contribute 2k a month. Should I wait for a dip in the market to buy stocks? If so what would you recommend?

Interview in NYC today for EY, forgot my dam suit jacket at home before my 3hr train ride! Thinking I may try the no tie no jacket modern look, after all it's Tech Consulting right?! Fuck....

After having worked in industry, in a start up, and in consulting, I’ve come to the conclusion that I don’t like working.

Has anyone been on a foreign secondment (tour) while on green card?

Do you think I'll be able to use ubers and taxis as travel for all future client travel ? Don't want to get into it, but have some license issues and don't want to be driving.

I know Kearney just finished a hiring spree. Did anyone get an offer for their consumer industry retail consulting? What was the process/compensation like? Kearney

Anyone heard about layoffs??? 👀

Consulting firms should just kick everyone out without an MBA -- be more like MBB. Also, shitty, peasant MBAs are out too.

Best vacation spots in between projects? (national or international)

MBB strategy, Big 4 Implementation 👍

If I don't think I can pass my drug test for a new client, how should I go about it?

Do you have to verbally request a room upgrade at SPG and Marriott or do they automatically give you the best room they can if you have Platinum? Never noticed a difference lol
