Starting as a PM at AmEx, is it possible to eventually move into tech?

Are you starting as a: - Program - Product - Project Manager? Given your question about moving into tech I’ll assume not product.

likefunny

No it’s product

Moving into a FAANG PM is never a easy move, but I would guess that being an AmEx PM might put you in a good spot to eventually move into any of their payment related products.

I know someone who moved from games to FAANG but it was tough and requires lots of jumping around. Thanks

It is possible to move into tech with a Product Manager skillset. I've seen several folks do this recently.

It is a bit difficult but not impossible.

I think you need to classify and or determine what you mean by tech. Are you looking to become a technical product manager? Depending on what you’re doing now, you could transition into a number of startup digital payments/banking shops. You could also look into shops like Affirm. If you want to go into FAANG, just about each one has a payments arm. (Rip Libra/FB, if that’s what it was called)

Hi everyone, hope you are doing well. I applied to BCG and received an email from them telling me I was on the waitlist for interviews. What is the chances of getting an interview if I am on the waitlist? I am not well connected with BCGers, any recommendations on who to contact? Do any one of you think they can help me or connect me to someone willing to help from the inside? I applied to Atlanta, Boston, and Miami. I am on a F1 visa which makes things harder, MBB being kind of my only options.

Looking for advice/validation. Currently have about 10 credit cards (yes really!) About half are airline cards that I signed up for for the miles, quicker boarding, and free bags- but they carry a $100 annual fee. Other half are random no-fee cards (BoA, Amazon chase, capital one venture, west elm). My thought is to cancel the ones w an annual fee (just bought a house so no immediate need for higher credit limit). Does this make sense?

Talked to SO about wanting more effort from him, he said he believes in giving what he is receiving & doesn’t chase. However I like to be pursued and feel wanted. Is this a situation of just wanting different things? Or should I start putting in more effort to pursue him and see if it’s reciprocated?

Life of non-immigrants depend on the Visa they hold and it’s so sad these companies don’t have a team where we can speak to someone immediately in case of a visa emergency situation . In EY you need to submit a form and wait for days together to get a reply from a human. Mean time you would have gone through 5 anxiety attacks.

I’m an immigrant with H1B. Been wanting to get out of my firm so badly but every time I apply outside, I start getting dragged into work at my current firm.I was going through some pretty rigorous interviews (I failed them) and have been in a slump since. Meanwhile my current firm keeps dumping work on me and I can’t find the time to apply outside. Anyone been through something similar? I’m losing hope. The politics is also so toxic, they started screwing me over since my last performance review.
