Starting at a T2 in a few months and need to refresh my wardrobe! I'm a male in my late 20s and current company dress code is business casual. What is office attire like and general travel dress code with client? I only have one nice grey suit and thinking I may need at least one more suit?

You don't need another suit. TBH I think suits nowadays are overrated and too try-hard. In general, just be casual but professional.

Wait till you start bc your client/first project may not even require travel yet and you may be working remote initially.

Idk how to answer your question because I’m not sure what the dress code is these days. But my entire wardrobe is suit supply and bonobos

Dress shirt or polo and slacks of some kind. Khakis and chinos are fine. Plenty of solid places - Banana Republic and J Crew (not factory) are okay. Uniqlo is great quality for the price. If you want to go up there’s plenty of high end brands but once you hit a certain point fabric quality stays consistent and you’re just paying for the brand.

BR polos are amazing! Ive been wanting to buy more bonobos stuff but current income doesn't allow that, hope that changes soon. Also hope Walmart doesn't ruin them.

I try not to buy things specifically for work/in the office. Call me crazy but I don’t feel like spending my paycheck on clothes I will only wear to make said paycheck. I also don’t travel to clients so keep that in mind. Shirts: polos, nice flannels, the “untuck” button ups. Pants: nice jeans, chinos, lulu/bonobo pants Quarter zips are a game changer.

Fully agree! My first job made us wear ties everyday (stupid I know) and so I spent a bunch of money on clothes I never wear anymore. Now I only buy shirts I can go out in and ideally chinos instead of slacks, but not sure I can get away with chinos.

I work in a 7-attorney firm with a national presence. Partly because I’m only a few months in, I work a roughly 8-6 day. I’m also new to billing and often find myself working all day and billing just 4 hours. Whenever I bring this up to the partner, he says it’s good we’re not over billing our client. We don’t have minimum billable hours so it doesn’t matter much for the firm’s sake but I think I’m missing out on learning the important skill of billing my time. Has anyone ever experienced this?

What’s the worst reaction you have seen a client have to typos or syntactical errors in work product? Everyone loves to say “typos are all clients see”, “perfection is part of the job” etc. But have you actually experienced really negative client reactions based on typos? Honestly asking. I’m a 5th year and while I’ve definitely seen clients notice typos, the only time I ever saw one mad about it involved a startup founder who was predisposed to complain about everything for discounts

Hi everyone! I am relatively new to consulting space. I worked with Deloitte in a research role, but have joined an MBB firm at a more front end role. I have a slightly unconventional question to ask (might be political too), but since this is an anon platform, I hope to get honest answers. I wish to know does people care about your looks in consulting (specially when you are on a client facing role?) I am an Indian male, and I have acne (not a lot, but considerable). Cont. in comments
