Starting from blood work to getting pregnant, if everything goes smooth what is a timeline we are looking at?

I feel the timeline would depend on so many individual factors.. in our case (moderate male infertility) we started the whole process early January, and I had a transfer late February.

Initial Blood work pre-consult or as an established patient. Established patient from protocol to fresh transfer, is close to 2 months if dates are in sync with your cycle. And if no abnormalities requiring fixing/surgery. And depends on your region.

D1 raised a good point. In my case I was an established patient, meaning we did a couple of IUI’s back in 2015, then stopped trying, and then came back to the same doctor in 2018 and started IVF right away.

A lot of factors. Where you are in the cycle, reason of infertility, treatment cycles and options, how your body react to certain fertility medication, miscarriage, TTC again, there are just so many uncertainties. I'm not trying to scare you, but honestly, just prepare it can be a very long journey! Also, is money a concern? If not, some private clinic can start your IVF cycle right away once they do all the pre-checkup. If you have coverage, sometimes need to wait for insurance approval. It can be a bit frustrating especially you want it now. Good luck and hope a healthy baby will come your way very soon!!!! ❤️

Do you mean to start IVF or start the whole fertility journey? I started IUIs in Jan 2019, did 5 of those. Did the consult for IVF in June, was pregnant by October. I miscarried but until then everything was textbook.

It really depends on what your issue is. A lot of times they recommend starting with timed intercourse maybe with meds to induce ovulation. Sometimes they’ll start with IUI. If the issue is male factor, blocked tubes, or genetic, they might go straight to IVF. For my first we did blood work and started immediately with letrozole and timed intercourse because I wasn’t ovulating. Did that for 5 months, then did 3 IUIs and got pregnant with my now 4 year old. So that was overall 8 months. IVF takes longer but each cycle has better odds.

For me personally, I'm 32 and unexplained infertility. Our initial consultation was end of June, we skipped doing IUIs and moved right to IVF. Egg retrieval was end of Sept and frozen embryo transfer is Nov 11. So 5 months for us, got held up due to labs indicating hypothyroidism, to which the RE wanted me to be on meds for some time

Potty training question for 21 mo- I am reading Oh Crap potty training & trying to find time to do this over a LONG weekend probably Thanksgiving as it will give me a good lead of one month to practice with my child. When home my LO removes pants, goes and sits on potty by herself when she thinks she wants to pee with the diaper on as that is not something she can remove easily. What approach do you think is the best here?

Happy holidays! What kind of craziness is everyone putting up with this year? I’ll start — my MIL told me my daughter scowls too much and that she needs “baby Botox”, and my sister just announced that she’s bringing the husband she’s been separated from (and that no one has spoken to) for 2yrs. Can’t wait! 😅

Most of my students have limited expressive language so I’m hoping to give them options and let them vote.
