McKinsey & Company Starting in the McKinsey London office soon and essentially need to buy a new wardrobe. Any advice on what I should prioritise?? Was going to buy a couple nice suits and shirts etc, but someone told me no one wears suits anymore and to buy chinos and quarter zips instead?

Dark chinos, 3/4 fitting shirts and some quarter zips. Some smart trainers are good as well (but wait until you’re a few months in before wearing these just for optics). Get one good suit off the peg and get it tailored. It will make it look 5x as expensive.
McKinsey Londoner here.. while good to have one good suit/ shirt, dress code is definitely non-suits on day/ day basis. Trainers are seemingly de rigueur with the ladies
Dress up a bit for week one, get office vibe, and then buy what fits

Always good to have a good suit or 2 in your wardrobe

Its always a good idea keep 1/2 nice suits, there will be situations where you need them. But yes chinos / shirts sounds like a good alternative for when not.
On that note, what’s a good place to buy reasonably priced suits? New to the geography and got no clue.
I also very much like Italian brand Gutteridge. Not sure if they have UK shop or ship there, but a weekend in Rome or Milan could be fun.
