Starting my first journey as a freelancer next week. Would it be best that I just stay with Cobra? What are other good health care options?

Did cobra as long as I could. NYC options are 🗑

It depends on how good your benefits are and at what cost. COBRA was an amazing deal for me and I’m crying now that I have to pay more for soooo much less.

like

My Cobra lasted 18 months, family of 4, cost $1800 a month. Now have BCBS HMO Gold and qualified for the tax credit. Pay $704 a month.

Depends on what city. In NYC I’ve liked Oscar and HealthFirst. Before Obamacare I was paying $1100 for a single person, so I’m thrilled to be paying only $580 now. (Silver plan.). In NYC you have to be aware of what hospital network you want to be in, if you care about your doctors. I switched to HealthFirst from Oscar because Oscar dropped NYU, where all my docs work

Cobra is a total rip off. I use Western Health Advantage here in CA. Under $1K per month for my husband and me. So far, so good.

You are told that you have exactly two years to live from today; you will be in good health for that entire time. Are you happy with your life choices to date? What would you stop, and what would you start? (These questions are usually “one day” or “six months”, but that feels implausible and forced.)

Hi all, I realize this isn’t a medical community but would still appreciate insights. I started Trintillix for anxiety / depression but ultimately insurance wouldn’t cover it. I switched to Wellbutrin and didn’t feel anything. I also now need to get off Wellbutrin because of some other medical things. What successes have people had for anxiety / depression? I have a history of eating disorders so really won’t take anything that might make you gain weight. Realize this is a tall order, but TIA.

I need y’all to amp me up. I’ve had a kick ass year with a handful of awesome accomplishments. I am expecting a promotion in April and have never negotiated a raise. I’ve been with Weber for quite some time so I know I’m underpaid, but I also really love my role so I’m not looking to move right now (I also just had a baby and I don’t think my mental health could take another massive change!). I don’t expect to catch up, but negotiating extra will show I respect myself! Pump me up please! 🙌🙌🙌

Family member is in their mid-70s still working FT but as an indep contractor and does not have employer backed retirement account. Income is close to $200k. Has reverse mortgage, some car loan debt, low assets, no life insurance. Has about $80k to invest. Should they (a) invest thru a financial advisory firm like Edward Jones (& pay applicable fees) or (b) simply invest their $ in low fee mutual funds or (c) something else entirely?

Interested in your opinions. Last year I took a government job. Before I was working as an independent consultant and netting more - obviously without pension and benefits though. (Lost work due to pandemic.) With extra medical expenses this year (outside of government insurance) I realize I’m simply not making enough money to do what I want and need to to (medical + travel + investing). Everyone tells me to stay for security and WLB.

My husband and I have a huge combined family. They are also...well...loud. By loud I mean, laughing, debating, talking, all in good cheer. But sometimes arguments can erupt, and there's really no shortage of entertainment and sometimes drama. We're having a smaller gathering this year and wondering what's the best way to navigate all things COVID and health - we love to be close, hug, etc but I know everyone has different comfort levels and I want to be gracious and appease. What's your expert opinion? #QA

I am really tired and I think I’m burning out. I love my job, my account, and my team (for the most part). But now I find I’m short with my older kid, house chores have gone undone, or work suffers. I had a review recently and I’m well received but the window for a raise or promotion has passed and they will look into it during the next open window (continued)

My newest one is that my legs are so achey and sore it feels like they were beaten with a bat , just nonstop pain and can’t sleep. Anyone else experience these?
