Are people really getting paid 40-50 lpa for 3-4 years of exp ? Is this the normal norm ? I have seen numbers as high as 92 lpa for 4 year exp guys . i personally feel these numbers to be super inflated. I’m so sorry. I’ve totally been there! I worked my ass off at an agency and never got promoted even though my scripts/ideas were selected and produced by the client more often than others. Meanwhile another white female coworker in the same role got promoted.
In my case, the reason for this was she played nice with the General Manager more, she was favoured by her, and was arguably more casual/conversational with client which made her a better presenter. Are there any patterns you’re seeing that you can learn from? Is there someone you can talk to? OR, is it time to run the other way and look for another gig?

Sadly, no one I can talk to since all my go-to’s have left the agency. I honestly feel alone some days. I definitely sense the favoritism since this person and I work closely on the same projects and on the same level
I’m so sorry you’re going through that. Have you seen any patterns between your manager and these colleagues? Did they impact certain projects more? Did you get any roadmap from your boss on what you could be doing?
I was in the same boat, seeing less experienced colleagues who weren’t minorities favorited more and promoted over me (some every six months). The role I was trying to get promoted to only had white colleagues in them.
I ended up having a discussion with my boss about what I could be doing at a review, working my butt off to do that and more. People vouched for me the next few months because they felt I got passed over. They even sent my boss notes about how much impact I had on big client projects once they were wrapping. I got a glowing quarterly review next time and then told “unfortunately at this time, there will not be a promotion. Leadership needs to see more from you.”
Me: see more of what?
Boss: more you of doing all this, they need to be able to trust that this will continue.
I had no performance issues or ever dropped the ball on a project. To me it was another excuse to not promote me.
I ended up leaving the org.
Sounds like they are holding you back at this point and aren’t looking out for your growth. My workplace situations shook my confidence the longer I stayed.
I ended up interviewing for a few months and landed a senior role with a $30K bump. I don’t see workplace bias and favoritism in play where I’m at.
I share this because I wouldn’t have gotten where I am if I didn’t try to get what I deserve now (vs their timeline). Might be time to start looking for a new role and team 🤎
Same story here. Currently living through both of these situations and I've decided to leave my org. My challenge is that my confidence is so shook off that it is taking an incredible amount of energy and will power to even start looking for roles. Hugs to both of you ❤️

~ Month update: my manager mentioned we can revisit the convo soon when they onboard a new creative. What does that have to do with me? Is it because they have to structure the department before looking at promotions? I’m so annoyed as it’s been two months since inquiring.
