Marriott platinum members, what kind of benefits or upgrade do you get when you arrive at a hotel?
Any recommendations for Marriott properties in Caribbean or Central America to spend points for the family vacation? May. Everything seems to be blacked out.
Going to San Diego for alt weekend. Any recommendations? Have no particular agenda and open to doing anything.
HILTON just sent out an email saying they’d adjust the points required for elite status qualifications once the situation is assessed by the team. And reservations can be changed without any fees CONT
Bout to hop on a flight EWR to ORD cuz I'm hardcore craving some deep dish pizza #consultingpointsperks
Going to be ~5 nights short to maintain Marriott/SPG platinum status. Any options? Already have the Amex card. Thanks!
Has anyone flew this week? What is it like at the airports? I’m supposed to travel to North California this week for vacation but don’t know if I should go anymore
Frm BOS, regular 8 AM flight w/first class upgrade gets cancelled. On 9 AM flight w/10 people on the upgrade list. Check in & rqst for an upgrade. Bump every1 else down and get upgraded to 1 open seat
When a hotel issues you points as a courtesy, do they pay for it out of their income statement? How does that work?
Just spent an hour on the LGA Avis shuttle for what should have been a 5-10 minute drive. Hate this place. 👎🏼
What's a good way to tell a potential case (that's expected to be crazy in hours and has brutal travel) that you're working on MBA apps and need a little time on weekday evenings and weekends?
I'll be joining the consulting world very soon and am thinking about getting a new personal credit card. My meal expenses are per diem so I'm thinking about the AmEx Gold card as it has 4x points on dining. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on personal cards for consultants and how to go about my corporate card as well! TIA
Hey team need some help - I’ve flown United since I was a child, and naturally I’ve flown with them through and through my consulting career. I just flew on Delta for the first time and it was so much nicer than what I’ve been used to. What’s loyalty like here at Delta - and is it worth status matching and becoming Delta loyal? NYC based if that makes any difference. TIA!!
2nd time this year someone with the same name as me was able to make a Marriott reservation under my account. Do yourself a favor and place a PIN on your account
Is it fair to rent a car instead of Ubering because you’re sick of making small talk with drivers who also ignore the fastest route on the GPS causing you to almost miss your flight every week? 😪
Flying into SFO to give an interview next Friday, Should I wear suit? As the company CEO never wears one.
At a B4 stressed but managing it. Partner passed me over for a sr manager but treats me like one (constantly managing multiple projects, driving his practice initiatives and driving 1-2 /$300-500k of proposals every month. Boutique is offering me the TC that I won’t make here for 3-4 years - same level, more focused scope. Also talking to a tech firm that will be a slight bump (10-15%) but likely 25% less work/stress. Worried a little bit about career progression. Thoughts?
Is anyone familiar with using Canvas for your classroom? Likes/Dislikes? Bonus points for uses in intermediate grade levels. 😉
I’m on a team that works 12-14 hour days but expects us not to expense dinner because of the budget. What would you do? Obviously firm policy states we can, but does that look bad?
If I'm Delta Platinum, will I get any sort of status match from American? Usual Thursday flight got eliminated
PWCs new expense system is awful.
Starting salary for a 1st year associate at PwC?
I have been offered a 25 percent hike at a big 4 but have another offer with 40 percent hike in a Boutiqe firm. I asked the HR of the big 4 if she could adjust since I have a 40 percent hike letter. She said she’ll check. She hasn’t gotten back to me yet. Should I contact her? Currently working at one of the Big 4.
What exactly is “Client Partnership” role? The description sounds strategic and fancy but I have a hunch it’s more like running after clients to beg for their time.
I want to live and work abroad. It’s always been a goal. Currently at D, analyst level. Does anyone have experience searching and interviewing for positions abroad? Looking at Europe. TIA
That moment when you walk out of a second round at a job you want, are told you're moving onto the next round, and also receive an email that you're now staffed after weeks on the bench 🙄
Despite our covid numbers going up, my district is starting in-person learning. I teach first grade and am scheduled to go back Dec 8th. We are using a "concurrent" model where we will be teaching both in person and online students simultaneously. Mondays will be planning days. Is anyone else doing this? What advice do you have to do this successfully without being totally exhausted?
Mothers, how do you keep your life going / live your life for yourself without having all your time sucked up by work and kids? I grew up with a doting stay-at-home mom, so I don’t have many examples of what balanced motherhood looks like. Also, it seems like American society erases your entire identity as a human being beyond “mom” once you have a kid, and I’m not sure how I feel about that. Thinking of having kids someday, but worried I’m too selfish to go for it.
When you get asked if you have specific experience with xyz in an interview, and you don’t, is it better to just say no and move on or to try and relate it to other things you’ve done?
PWC 🐠: Anyone willing to provide some insight on the Cyber Risk and regulatory practice? I found a role I’m interested in.
I was wondering whether any US green card holders accepted into M7 programs ever get some amount of tuition reimbursement/funding/scholarships from these schools or are they treated like international students that are expected to pay full tuition. Also, how common does is it?
When you are applying to jobs I noticed HR goes right to the salary talk on round 1. How do you handle this? Evade it/push to later round, throw out your range? Need advice. I don’t want to waste my
Late flight and Uber driver leaves with my luggage. Chase his car. Another car honks. Both to no avail. Now late. Suitcase has work clothes for tmrw. Working on getting bag back now. Lesson learned.
I was unemployed 6 months. Now I’m turning down interviews because there’s so much interest. Clients and publishers are throwing wads of $$$ at me. If you’re struggling, keep going. There’s hope!
